On the other, you have to personally do a LOT of reading, of the books and notes and letters you come across, not just skim them.
But impossible to say for each person different, good on you for stating a reference though.
Best way I can say personally:
Pillars 1 I found even worse then DoS 1 since least DoS 1 had the whole 2 people unique mechanic + story that was clearly designed for 2 people especially couples but still unique and cool for rp, though gave up on both before finishing.
(DoS 1 I gave up on because of trash handling of companions->like 1 gal betrayal handling was 1 the worst I ever seen and pillars because they felt lifeless ZZ with boring side content).
But both Pillars 2 and DoS 2 improved successfully both areas and I liked them both (Found Pillars 2 way better in character + story, but DoS 2 better in gameplay and playing GM mode for a time).
In conclusion, i had a really hard time with DOS1 story/lore and spacing, while i really enjoyed DOS2.
So you're telling me the quality is as good as some rando drunk guy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with his friends? ... Funny, but not really the kinda quality story that I'm looking for.
