Solo Summoner Playthrough?
Never beaten this game before, had a lot of fun with it and got to mid act 3 before getting distracted by something shiny each time.
Like the idea of a Lone Wolf Summoner Solo Run, i know people have done it(people are nuts at this game!), but how difficult is it?
Would i be better off completing the game in a more vanilla fashion in a 4 player party first?
Thanks!

It’s possible, though shenanigans like that aren’t typically recommended until you’ve beaten the game already. The only issue I see is that summoning is incredibly strong on a lone wolf build because you can get it to 10 by level three. Problem is, as the game scales, summoning starts to fall off pretty hard. You’d want to figure out what you’d pair it with though. You wouldn’t exclusively be just a summoner. Theoretically, you’d be a mage with all four elements so you could craft the source infusion spells.

useful advice! il lean towards that as i get past level 5 then, with a little necro on backup for phys damage perhaps

Honestly, with the way the game scales things by level, and the way summoning really levels out when it's capped, I would suggest swapping out of it after you leave act 1. It definitely makes act 1 a breeze on lone wolf, but you'll notice the incarnate stays the same strength while everything else starts getting stronger. Solo Lone Wolf isn't as strong as it was in 2017/18 but it can definitely still solo the game without much issue.

you could split the diff and do a duo lone wolf run. In the long run 4 man party gives you more options and ap in fights. However if part of the reason you keep stop playing is managing everyone you could go for a duo run. Stronger then solo but not as managing as 4 man.

that is part of it realistically yeah - though i was under the impression (and quite mistaken apparently) that summoning nullified lone wolf in a duo game, but as thats not the case I will probably get as far as I can solo (probably to the end of act 1) then take on a second character.

If i go this route, if i do the big battle at the end of act one and go and collect my party member/s after the fast they'll be safe from death after the boat leaves right?

As long as none of them die on the first island, all 6 origin characters will be on the boat when you exit the first island. Once you are about to get to the 2nd island though, you will be locked in with who you added to the party and cannot swap out for other origin characters. There will be a dialogue box or two pop up in the center of the screen on the boat before you arrive, similarly to when you get on the boat, but it doesn't explicitly say your party is locked in.

amazing, thanks for the help!

It's possible but extremely boring imo. Pure summoner takes too long to end fights compared to every other build.

Something like solo Necromancer can end fights in a single turn late game.

fair but it is up to the gamer what is boredom or not ;)

I mean the real answer to single turning with summoner is to make a bunch of snake skin scrolls and spend a turn using supercharger an absurd number of times.

whilst i appreciate the extra feedback im gonna go through it as is for now! I will have party members saved beginning in chapter 2 should i wish to change course down the line however :)

Yeah, when you reach the act one/two transition, just take a party of 4 and do that combat defending Malady with three other party members. Then dismiss them afterwards. This keeps them alive to recruit later rather than leaving you with just the mercs.

Does that actually work? I would assume it works like any other buff and just refreshes the timer.

Im rocking two with the lone wolf trait and they are op, destroy everything. I Equip a shield to take more damage and magic that buffs my armor. And my summons just go around killing everything.

I mean, before calling them OP, do realize that other classes (mostly mages) can be powerful enough to literally beat late game encounters in a single turn of casting. Like, even if everything isn't dead, they're all CC locked and nearly so after just a single turn of AP. That can even be without lone wolf.
