Definitive edition Difficulty - too easy?
Hey,

so i recently got me the Definitve edition and chose Story Mode for playing.
I have reached the nameless island now (act 3?) and i think the game is too easy.
in fact i find it so easy that i lose interest in playing further.
beast one-shots two enemys with shield throw. execute procs, 4 more action points. whirlwind and charge/stomp.
an enemy party of 4 mobs is now down to two mobs, which are stunned. gg.
like i said, so easy it kills the fun.

It has 2 more options: explorer and classic mode. Should i switch to them mid-game? what is going to change? could not find anything useful with google.

Explorer mode = Easy, mostly story but combat can occasionally feel like it exists.

Classic = Normal difficulty. You'll die if you aren't careful, but combat is emphasized.

Tactician = Hard. Enemies will be dangerous and fights should prove challenging.

You're on a difficulty where one shotting things is intended. I mean, if executioner is giving you 4 AP, then yeah, things will be easy. Executioner gives 2 AP on killing blow in other difficulties. You probably want to bump it to classic. Some players, like myself find even Tactician too easy still, but it all depends. I'm not even the kind of player who likes playing games on hard either. I prefer enjoying myself with enemies being resistant but not massive threats unless I'm being dumb. SO I jump between normal and hard in most games. This one though... Tactician for me is about as hard as 0.8x your average normal difficulty. Not enough to call it easy, but not even as hard as normal would be.

to be honest it sounds as if you should have started off in at least classic mode. i cant tell you the specific changes, but i can say that there are some damn decent fights throughout especially with particular bosses on that difficulty. never personally played higher than classic though.

Do you know what the difficulty level does that YOU CHOOSE? You really can't complain about the game being easy because you choose it. Now if you took the hardest level (Honor Level?) where if all party members die you loose your one and only save then you can say the game is easy.

Can you not increase the difficulty level?

Story difficulty is meant for experiencing the story, not focusing on combat. Of course itll be a breeze.

WOW.... i never knew that... my wife and i play lone wolf together on classic. i just told her about that and she burst out laughing. Maybe one day we'll be up to that challenge, but im sure it took us at least 3-4 tries to kill the creepy guy under fort joy alone. doubt we'd ever make it through on Honor

Just go for Tactician. Honor is literally exactly the same as Tactician with the only change being save deletion on game overs. Everything else is exactly the same.

Thanks Chaoslink for some Explanation. The game itself doesnt tell me anything about the difficulties. Nor did the internet in a quick search.
I Can only chose explorer and classic right now though (definitive edition). Will switch to classic.

No, it do not know. because the game did not tell me. i cannot pick honor level. only story, explorer, classic. And i do not know what these do either. because the game does not tell me. thats why i post here. why so hostile?

The game does tell you. I know they did a horrible job of doing it, but when you clicked on new game, single player then you pick the difficulty level, before you click OK to start the game, there is the explanation on what it does. Once I saw this I went back and saw all the other ones dificulty levels to read them up.

I know the explanation should have been done before actually clicking the difficulty level, but it's there before you hit OK. At least for me.

One of the flaws lots of gaming companies do sadly. Not good enough explanations.
