Butter is Dead?! (Minor Spoilers)
At the beginning of Fort Joy stuffs, I flirted with Butter and got her on our side for the fight against Griff. She survived, we chatted a bit more, everything seemed fine. No dangers anywhere around.

Fast-forward many hours of play. We escaped Fort Joy, found the Seekers, and didn't come back for some time. We gained access to the boat, and told Malady to wait before leaving. We went back to Fort Joy to tell Butter of the escape, except now where Butter was before, is her body bathed in a pool of poison that was definitely not present before. Her journal has no insight, with the last entry being about how her and I met.

I've no idea what happened to her. There were no enemies, no magisters, left in town. All of Griff's gang was dead. She wasn't near a poison barrel, and even if she was, it shouldn't have spontaneously exploded. What happened to Butter? Is it scripted that she just dies no matter what, or is there something we might have overlooked to save her?

Hi there. I went through the same experience except one of Griff's female gang members is a roamer and may not have been in your initial showdown. I was literally buying items from Butter, the only one left alive, when the roamer aggroed Butter and tried to kill her. I'm guessing that may be what happened. You can go back to a previous save and watch Butter to see this fight, assuming that roamer is still alive. I think she's the one that's competing with you for the Drudanae Thief's bounty.

The strange thing was that when I attacked her assailant, all of a sudden Butter turns on me! At least, that's what I think happened. It's possible that since the two were in melee of each other and I was trying frantically to save Butter, I may have accidentally clicked on her instead.

I didn't fight Griff, left on good terms with him. I also told Malady to wait to go back and check up on Butter and she was perfectly alive and well. There was no dialogue to take her with me though, so you're out of luck I'm afraid. Perhaps she'll be in Arx when I finally find the bloody city.

My guess is, Griff was sort of protecting Butter from the other elements in the prison, once he was gone, so was her protection. Or maybe her survival is tied to Griff regardless of which side she takes because of the narrative. Who knows.

You're talking about Waltz, she's not roaming, she's asking people about the stolen oranges. If you find the oranges and tell her about it, she'll go back to the kitchen and stand guard on the platform there.

I mean she is not always right in the area there. I've observed her moving outside of their little fort area from time to time.

But that may not have been Waltz. I did notice that the assailant was dressed similar to Silence. It couldn't have been her though because I had already killed Silence by that point. I'll pay more attention to who it is next time.

Yeah, Waltz isn't always there for the fight. Knowing about this, we hunted her down after the initial fight specifically to avoid this sort of thing.

Oh well, she's dead now. We've been away from the town for many, many hours before finding the body, I'd have no clue what save she'd be alive in without redoing it all. Going to stick with Butters Is Dead for this run, and take better care to protect her next time.

Even if you protect her, you can't take her with you. Just saying.
I'll see if I can meet her in Arx though. Maybe it does lead somewhere.

Thanks a lot for the spoiler, idiot.
Would have liked to have found that out myself.

(I'll add a spoiler to the quote so people don't get spoiled in case you remove your stupid comment.)

Thanks for removing the spoiler comment. For clarification I was not looking for spoilers going forward, but meant that my post itself contained minor spoilers. I'll try to word that better next time.

You can see clearly that neither one of us knows what happens to Butter after Fort Joy from our comments, and you figured you'd spoil it? Awesome logic there.

OP was only asking about why she ended up dead, IN fort joy.

He already apologized for it, no need to make it worse than it already is. It was a ♥♥♥♥ move, no doubt about that, but it's pointless to make such a big deal about something that's not even important to the story... At least as far as I know that is.

Yah we can chill, no real harm done here. Take a breather and step back, dude was trying to help. I, OP, am not upset.

If you don't want spoiler don't go into forum?

Who cares that ho3 is dead anyway. She's a lowly breadcrumb thug.

Btw final boss is a giant shark
