'Classes' are just preset skill/talent selections. Not an actual class you level in like other games. So just look at their skills and talents to see what they do.

Its really a classless system so you can build everyone however you want.

Well ye i know that, but i picked a class for every companion and now cant see which one is what. Im kinda new to this game so this would be valuable information as to how i spend my points on which companion.

Seems like a simple feature to have the class name in the inventory or skill page

Seems you did get it. There is no class only skill presets, What skills your companions have you can see in the inventory.

Just hit K to look at their abilities; the game doesn't have classes.

Then why do i have to pick a class for every companion?

And all my companions have a very different skillset, i cant really see whcih one i made dmg mage, which one i made conjuror or battlemage or w/e.

It really seems like such a simple thing to just put the class u chose for a companion somewhere, but like the rest of this game, its unintuitive and needlessly clunky.

You can press E to bring up the character screen. From there you can select the companion and look at their skills. It wont' tell you the name of the preset but you can at leaast see what their focus is.

Again there is no class system. The class you pick at the beginning // when you recruiting a companion just provides a head start in a certain direction.

And thats exactly what i want to know, which one i picked for which companion..

Each "class" preset is just a combination of certain skill class abilities (e.g. Ranger = Huntsman+Pyro; Cleric = Hydro+Necro). What you are picking when you pick a "class" for a companion is these initial combat point investments (and the game gives you corresponding skills, weapons and attributes). After a single level up the initial "class" can become virtually meaningless as you can branch out into any school of skills you want.

There is no reason you ever need to know what "class" you selected originally. It is irrelevant to game mechanics that you picked Cleric or Ranger beyond what skill points you invested in. The easiest way to check what mix of skill classes a character has is by looking at their character sheet and seeing where you invested points. It would be confusing to see that you have a companion that was a "Cleric" but that you had invested all your points in warfare since you got them.

I hope this clarified it for you.

And if you really want to know, you can back track from skill points to presets using this chart: https://www.reddit.com/r/DivinityOriginalSin/comments/70h66r/dos2_default_classes_chart/

But again, it wound help you if you invested in different skill classes after leveling up and you didn't remember anyway.
