Game stuck updating and I cant play.
It seems a new patch was released today but steam wont download it. It says that an update is queued but it wont download it nor will it let me run the game.
I tried to check files intergrety but even that doesnt move beyon %0 after waiting for a while.

Any advice? I really dont want to uninstall and redownload since the game is quite large.

Welcome to my hell! I did it last night to fix it, and it looks like I'm doing it again right now...

Any word from the devs on it? if the update is causing issues they could roll it back and try again after fixing whatever is wrong with it.

have you tried exiting and restarting steam? Probably not the same problem but I had some trouble with steam sync making it hard to exit and enter the game.

Only method is to uninstall and re-download as its a common issue to all gaming platforms, steam, battle. net, origon etc. they all have it and its particularly related to how you'r machine registers progress of download as it can also happen to windows update's although with windows update's its easy to locate the file that list's download progress & status i have not ever found steam/battle.net/origin's and thus the simplest method is uninstall and then re-install.

If you find the file location of the download history & log for steam i am pretty sure you can fix it with deleting the latest one and it will then restart trying to figure out how far it is but lets be honest thats too much work to bother about. :)

I didnt think of deleting the download files. I'll try it and let you know.

I tried it and it didnt work.

There is away though. Go to the game files then the Bin folder and find the "EoCApp" EXE file. click it and it'll open the game right away even if steam is not running.

Hopefully this will help run it till the issue is resolved by Larian.

I had this problem. The offending file ran the game after i selected it and run as administrator. However the game still would not update. I tried all the steam fix advice. No good. PROBLEM SOLVED - I uninstalled Steam, rebooted pc tben reinstalled Steam. This is quite quick and easy. Update installed and all working just fine.

BTW Steam my ask you for a location where to download and install the game again. Don't panic! Just point Steam to the Stean Library where the game is installed and it will find it. Your saved games are not affected
