Scarecrow....
Managed to win this as one of my first fights outside of Driftwood at lvl 10, but it feels like there was supposed to be another solution. Is this the devs trolling difficulty or was there some alternate solution somewhere :)

Alternatively, I noticed the terror can penetrate both magic and physical armor. Could that be a bug?

I'm only 9th level and while I defeated the local arena fight pretty handily, I got my arse handed to be in this fight because of the terror effect. It not only decimated half my party, it also took out my summoned creatures. Completely ignored all armor ... then they were doing insane amounts of damage on top of having twice the action points I do. The combat in this game can be crazy.

Same. Have the same lvl as the scarecrow. In 2 turns i've lost 2 companion. Moreover i've more physical and magic armor than the scarecrow, obliterated in just a freaking 1 turn.

At the end you make some sort of comment about how that was no normal void dude, and that he was some sort of leader. It passed too fast so I couldnt tell exactly what was said and I havent found any meaning in subsequent play, iunno. Still feels like ignoring armor is a bug, have seen this in one more boss fight (caves) since as well.

Where is that boss ? I am almost done with Act 2 and I have not found it.

just north of Driftwood in a wheat field. There are 5 or 6 scarecrows, the one that looks different is the one that you talk to to initiate the fight

Just remove glass cannon perk for this fight and you will be fine ;)

Apparently the scarecrow's tied to the 3 Altars quest. I don't know, I've fought them before finding all the altars.

Terror doesn't bypass magic armor, unless you have Glass cannon.

Theyre hardcore - the biggest problem is the Terror Aura on the main one.
Also, dont use physical attacks when Evasion Aura is up.

Tips follow:

- Keeping your magic armor up prevents terror, which is the hardest part of the fight since its basically a permanent CC that screws you over
- All their attacks are magic damage, so physical armor is useless. Dont bother with skills or items that raise physical armor, try to stack magic armor
- Summons help distract them but a lot (Bone Widow as one example) have no magic armor so they get terrified right away , use them mostly as meat shields
- Clear Minded removes the terror, as does Enrage; if you have Clear Minded it gets removed when you are in the terror aura but you dont get terrified
- Craft some Clear Mind scrolls and hand out to your party
- Use Dome of Protection early on and try to keep in it for the armor regen which prevent the terror
- Use Soothing Cold (magic armor regen)
- Have potions of magic armor (see a theme here?)
- When the main guy has Evasion Aura up dont bother with melee skills but spells cannot miss :)
- Use your source skills liberally since the main guy is just going to drain your source and then cast hard hitting spells with it
- If you have Fane save Time Stop (easily the best unique ability) until the clutch moment comes
- For a tiny advantage if you need it, start the fight by ambushing the lead guy instead of doing the dialogue so you can get in a big 'alpha strike' spell.

Hope this helps - its a hard fight even in Classic but totally doable.

Easy, start talking then teleport the talking character away few times, finish talk sneak up and instagib them with a ranger. No sweat :D

Beating it at level 10 is quite an accomplishment, since it's a level 12 encounter. Magic Armor blocks the fear, but the enemies there are designed to strip magic armor rapidly. Best thing is to focus the scarecrow down with all you have, even if it means trying to strip two different armor types at once.

But if you have Glass Cannon, ALL status effects ignore armor, that's why Glass Cannon is bad.

You must have levelled up twice. Even doing it at level 14 gave me close to 90% of the experience to reach level 15.

i'm lvl 9 on tactical. but this fight seems like it was made intentionally just to **** over mages. not only are they all ranged with absurd damage, they fly so you can't slow them, their magic armor is 6x more than their physical armor. and their permanent terrify aura makes it so your summons and totems don't do anything, their terrify aura also cancels all mind control lol. it would be easy to have archers snipe them, then stunlock them... but what a pain in the ass to switch builds for this one fight.

At lvl 9 you have no chance no matter what skills you have (except total cheese with invisibility).
