Where can I find my dismissed companions?

On the "tutorial isle" (Fort Joy) I found them again where I found them the first time. For later on, I don't know as I'm just about to leave Fort Joy.

Helps to know what area you are in. But normally they will go back to where you first found them at, in act 1 or the 2nd "town" in act 1. Otherwise I'd expect them to go to wherever the hub is in later acts.

This is a concern... I've dsimissed both Fane and the Red Prince and I can't find them anywhere. I've left FOrt Joy but I'm still on the island...

So just dismissed both of them and found them back where you first met them, red prince by the beach and fane by the double rainbow waterfall.

After you get to Driftwood city, after a little adventure on ship, you will be stuck with only those comapnions you choose at that little adventure :)

So on the ship I will only have the companions I have already chosen? The companions I left behind won't be available again?

To clear all things up:
If you meet all 6 companions in fort joy, they will go to ship with you, all 6 of them. But in chapter 2 (adventure on ship) you can choose up to 3 of them to be in your party, just talk to them on ship, below deck. When you get to Chapter 3, there will be only those 0-3 with you that you choose in chapter 2.

I dismissed the Red Prince and then found him again in Amadia's Sanctuary. South Eastern corner.
