Obsidian Knife - Oh God Why (Mild Spoilers)

So I've performed the first ritual, progressed through the game, done virtually everything I can on Reaper Coast, and now I'm trying to go back to do the ritual again, but I can't find the obsidian knife, so there's no way for me to craft the ritual bowl.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do we have any solutions?
I've checked every vendor I can think of, but come up empty handed.
If I have to start over from scratch for such a stupid reason, I'm probably not gonna. I'll just come back to the game once they provide an alternative.

Generally the item is next to the blackroot and bowl in the inventory. I thought I lost mine, but it just got lost in my tons of loot. Hopefully it didn't just bug and disappear for you. Using Autosort could help perhaps to try this method.

i think the ritual just needs blood try the blood rain spell ? havent try it but if i remember the book was asking for any blood and any fire ? i uset the dagger for blood and cutting the root + icinirator so not sure if blood rain will work for the blood part

I know it was originally in the cabinet, but I didn't realize I'd need it again 10 hours later, so I didn't drop it on the floor. I'm pretty meticulous about my inventory, so I sold or dropped it some time later.

And no, Kara, blood rain won't work for it. It's a specific crafting recipe that requires specific items. You literally use the knife in order to turn it into a bloodied knife, which you then combine with other materials to perform the ritual.

It's even goofier, if you consider how many thousands upon thousands of methods there would be, narratively, to draw your own blood. But nope - it has to be this very specific knife that is incredibly easy to lose in the world.

Shrug, nothing to be done for it.

blackroot can be harvestged in cloisterwood.

Also you dont have to complete the ritual. I know this, because there was a bug in my game where malady acted like i did not finish the ritual and she used her own power to know the next place for our journey.

like Junte112 said, go to that one undead chick who wants the exploding corpse spell in cloisterwood, then press alt and it's name should pop up for the blackroot. With the obsidian knife... I dunno

Make sure you check ur miscellaneous section. Thats where i found mine when i thought i sold it. And its not named knife its obsidian something else in the inventory.

have you tried searching the cabinet again with a different character, that worked for me in my first playthough.

Just check the vendors you might have sold it to. Important items will stay in their inventories.
There's only so many NPCs who you can use for trading, not every NPC has a lot of gold to sell wares to.

Find some patience and sort through the NPCs.

You can't sell the Obsidian Lancet. It can't be at a vendor.

Its more likely that you either dropped it, in which case, good luck, or you, like me, thought its an ingredient while it's actually under miscellaneous items.

If you dropped it, it's still not the end of the world. Try to remember where you might have thrown misc. stuff on the ground and walk around while holding down ALT (it will highlight everything).
