How can I create a second character?
I want to create 2 double lone wolf characters like I did in the first game, is it even possible?

Yeah, you get Lone Wolf at level 8 (I think). If you want to create two characters, use a pad emulator, or better, plug-in your controller during the character creation.

How does plugging in a controller allow me to create a second character?

You can create your character depending on how many humans are in the game at the creation. If you're the only one, you get to create one character, and you recruit the rest of your party as companions, among the premade characters.

So you're saying there is no way to create 2 characters on a single computer?

Yes, there is. Use a controller, or emulate one. Or emulate 3 and create 4 characters. You can also run several instances of the game, but your framerate will tank.

I did switch a controller and nothing in this regard has changed from using keyboard/mouse. Is it now supposed to have a new button i can click on?

You have to select multiplayer.

why doing so much trouble? you can edit companions to your liking once you leave the island. there is a magic mirror below deck of the lady vengeance, which you can undo all atribute points, combat ablities, civic abilities and yes, even talents

But that's at the end of Act 1, which is like 20 hours or more.

My son and I only had two controllers, but we just launched multiple instances of the game in windowed mode. Then connected to main client game via LAN connection option for the character creation part only. We wanted to run all four characters as customs... Then after the campaign launched, we saved game and closed out second instances of the game... Worked perfectly... Be a lot easier with four controllers in split screen at creation though...

Why did they have to remove something that worked perfectly fine in the first game? I know they want us to play the origin characters, but some players prefer to make their own from scratch.

Is there anyway to change the name of your character?

I asked the question before the release and never got a proper answer. The truth is, there is no reason.

It´s easier than using an emulator or what ever:
Just open a multiplayer game, set it for two players. Alt + Tab out of the game, open the game directory ("steam/steamapps/common/divinity original sin 2" normally)and open a second game instance using the EoCApp.Exe in the bin foulder. Using this instance join your multiplayer game, create your two characters and start. When you finished loading and you´re in the prologue, just close you second game. This will make the second charater controllable for your first game. Now you can just play and save/load as usual.

Edit: Seems like Mullgyver was faster than me...

Ah, That does seem like a good solution if it works. Do I have to open it twice every time I open up the game, or just the once when I create the characters?
