Ok I managed to douse the flames but now he's to weak and is still histerical. I dont have the slightest idea what to do to help this guy. can someone help me? I dont mind spoilers.

oh so i need a nother source point. There were 2 source puddles in the area and I already wasted one trying to figure out the ridiculous way to remove the flames and I saved my game immediately so I dont have to relive the frustration. Would I make it harder on myself if i justkill him to vent?

I have no Idea if you can kill the historian or what happens if you do that. But There is an infinite amount of source on the island. Right at the burning fort in which you found Gareth. If you enter it you find some kind of source apparatus which can spawn puddles for - it seems - an unlimited amount.

How were you supposed to know how to do this? Like what in the game tells you this would work?

I tried rain and then blessing the water, but hadn't thought of blood. It works though.

I only know of it because I looked at the forums, there is no actual way of finding this out in the game.

Well I did Bless, Blood Rain, Bless and got to speak to him but got nothing of any help from him. (I'd already stumbled across the Library I think - room with lots of book shelves and a lever that did I don't know what.

He refused to say anything. Wish I'd left him to burn and not wasted my Source.

One of the gargoyls in that room gives a clue: ''how would Braccus Rex douse someone who's on fire'' or words to that effect. But it did not tell me on my first game so I don't know if it's been added recently.

Regarding this, can you get any information out of him? I tried with all my chars, one with persuasion 5 and all I got was basically "it's too terrible, I can't tell you" and then he teleports off..

You need an incredible memory for every book you’ve read (not like there’s a million of them), a faffing spreadsheet or something, and a bucket load of patience. I must have reloaded and tried various things at least 50 times.

Anyway, seems although he clears off, it does open a portal. So I guess that's it - no info but a portal to another area. I’m about to go through it now.

I think Larian got a bit carried away in this section – I wish they’d spend as much time fixing the Missing Objects Tags bug. I am slowly losing the will to live.

My friend and I did 1 coop, without one "cheat" of going to the forums the entire game. Now, in 2, we were stuck, at the Historian, I finally came on here because we have tried for HOURS trying to figure out how to help him. The pigs we figured out; the Lib makes no sence.

So how are we suppose to put blood on him? We have no blood. And how in the world you are suppose to deduce or figure out the solution is beyond us. We were about to leave the island and give up, but we threw up our hands and came on here.

You have to use the Raining Blood spell on the Librarian.

Thanks for the info Zac. Problem is, we don't have that spell or ability. And I have to say, even if we did, we'd never in a million years have thought to use it on him.

Same problem. I tried everything I could think of and spent way too much time looking for an actual answer in the game, but eventually I had to give up and look online. So now I know. I can't get any further through the maze. I have no blood, nor any way of getting any. I guess I'm mostly just posting to vent, but this is seriously ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. There could at least have been a puddle in the room, if only to give you a bloody hint.

If anyone's looking for suggestions, there is always the option of one or two of the random body parts lying around the island. Munching on those will give you a blood pool.
