shows 2 more healing spells in the hydro class. Maybe it becomes available in the next act?
Healing isn't important. Restoring armor is. The way to stay alive in this game is to avoid being CCed.
I usually take two points in Necromancy, which heals you when you deal HP damage to enemies, and then pick up Armor of Frost + Bone Cage, Heart of Steel, or Fortify, depending on my build.
I always, always focus on maxing my damage. It's better to kill things than to try to survive their attacks, and the more damage you do, the better Necromancy is. Dealing maximum damage also gives you the most AP efficient heal in the game.
Restore armor to avoid being CC'ed. If I can't one-shot enemies, I CC them or use Chameleon Cloak. That's how I survive fights.
Two points in Necromancy + two armor restoring skills can supplement any build.
It's possible in this game to kill most enemies before they can act. I remember, on my huntsman, killing a group of about 6 level 15 enemies, and only one of them got to attack me once -- and they didn't even get through my physical armor.
Once you master this, the game becomes all about pre-buffing and overpowering enemies, not surviving them.
what char do you want?
you could always just use potions
I know mathmatically that Necro is better, but I wanted more RP in my run, not a "Sheldonesk" character.
Since healing doesn't scale very well, the support character I typically make is a human summoner. Summoning gives your support character the ability to attack and buff at the same time.
10-20 in Summoning, Aero 2, Pyro 1, Hydro 1, Geo 1, Necro 3, Scoundrel 1.
Summon Incarnate, totems and other summon spells, Encourage, Adrenaline, Netherswap, Teleport, Haste, Peace of Mind, Armor of Frost, Fortify, Living on the Edge, Death Wish, Shackles of Pain, Bone Cage, and most importantly, Last Rites, which can revive teammates by sacrificing life.
Then I dump all of my points into CON, with enough Memory for my spells. This character doubles as a bullet sponge. It also doesn't use Source spells, which means they can be a Source battery for anyone who needs it.
This was my second character in my Honour Mode playthrough. He never died. That said, I actually didn't fight with him very much -- I mostly used him to buff before battle before returning him to the Lady Vengeance.
Since you don't want Necromancy, you can easily tweak this by using INT instead of CON and taking the points from Necro, and maybe some from Summoning, and putting them somewhere else, like Aero for access to the better spells that can help you CC more effectively.
Aero is the most important school of magic because Teleport is too good to pass up.
