There's a really easy way to finish this quest.
While the pillar chains are still up, keep hitting and healing the dwarf until he stops falling down.
Destroy the pillars and the demon will pop up immediately out of the dwarf.
Flee from the battle with all your characters. Use waypoint bloodmoon and go back to the vault.
Once your back in, the dwarf and the demon will be fighting, the dwarf will solo the demon.
Don't join the fight again or you will be immediately possessed.
After the demon is dead, loot it , talk to the dwarf and the ghost and voila, quest finished

You're really close here.

Right after he stops falling down you'll get an exp bump and the quest will update. Have one of your party talk to the spirit again. He'll say he's free and he's rising up, and you'll get to choose a reward (l15 loot). Then you can destroy the pillars, and when you do the dwarf will be on the ground and the demon will be dead. You can loot the demon and talk to the dwarf.

I am not sure why, but not one of these tips worked for me. After the Adventurer stopped falling down, he was never freed so I could speak with him and get a reward. When I killed the last pillar, the demon did jump right out. After I had fleed and came back, the demon had killed the adventurer, and I still had to do that most annoying fight in the whole game. Once finally killed and I had to use 3 restoration scrolls on my killed party members, I only got a small fraction of the possible quest EXP, and was not able to close the quest. So much wasted time trying to get this to work out, + moving potions and scrolls around so the invaded team members would not spend them all, and then almost no reward at the end... :(

RealKarl... Once he starts talking about his Bloody Body, that means he is down to 10% health. This is when you can knock down the pillars and the demon exits the dwarf. You'll probably have to heal him up again as the demon will try to kill him. He's a good distraction though preventing your team from being possessed themselves.

WORST PART OF THIS GAME - I love this game, but this fight took 2 1/2 hrs, that darn demon kept possessing character after character. It wiped out (it used) 57 potions, 13 scrolls, and 12 source points. They really need to take this encounter out of the game.

This fight, combined with madness, wants me to uninstall this game. I get him close to death, KNOCK HIM DOWN and while knocked down he invades one of my characters.

♥♥♥♥ YOU LARIAN.

Its a pretty easy concept without doing any cheese. The demon leaves for about 1 turn when you take whoever it posseses down to around 10% hp, sometimes you'd need to heal them up and keep doing damage to down to 10%, resist death makes this rather easy too. when the demon is out damage it as much as possible and rinse/repeat.

Just send the possessed Character into the death fog once and the status is gone.

Keep hitting and healing the Dwarf untill he says "this bloody body". Destroy the chains and the demon will leave and the Dwarf will still be alive. (This is important to get the reward). The demon will possess the character nearest to him, so cast Peace of Mind on the nearest character before he or she is possessed to prevent madness. Once the demon possess a character who isn't mad, beat it untill it's health is below 10%, then demon will leave. Cause some damage to the demon and cast peace of mind on the nearest character again. Repeat this untill the demon is dead.

Just make the closest hero naked and have no skills on his hotbar

You can kill the hero with the rebirth idol thing and whittle down the demon while the dwarf teleports your naked guy everywhere.

The naked guy or party just has to combine a res scroll with the idol to repeat the process until the demon is dead.

Basically

1. Drive Demon out of Dwarf
2. Attack Demon
3. Drive Demon out of Naked guy and if he dies he resurrects with idol
4. Combine Idol with Res scroll for 1 AP
5. Repeat steps 2-4

I did the fight using summons since he can't posses them. Teleported the dwarf out of range after the demon popped out and moved my guys out of range while leaving several summons to fight the demon. He was done for in 4 turns after that.

I found that using a champion incarnate prevents the possession, just summon one down there, farsight infusion is a bad idea because the demon will make the incarnate go mad, but the dwarf is nimble and is able to stay away from the incarnate making the closest enemy the demon, just stay outside the room and have your incarnate + the possessed dwarf finish him off, if it ever gets close to dwarf dying, jump in, heal jump out, never attack the demon and he won't possess you

I used two characters. First I beat the dwarf down, then I released the pillars, which spawned the demon. I moved one cahracter to the corner of the room, and used the other character to teleport the demon to the character in the corner. This ensures the demon possessed the corner character. I blessed the corner character, then killed the demon. The character was still possessed, but did not go mad. The quest completed and the dwarf survived. I cleared the demonic invasion condition by killing the character and resurrecting them.

thank you for that ! what an incredible solution. and excellent loot, too. plus more than 50K experience. plus the satisfaction of a quest perfectly solved.

I did something very similar to this, and it worked well on tactician/lone wolf. Instead of fleeing from battle, I left one pillar up and summoned bone widows from the exit/entrance. The widow can make it into the pit with burrow, and should have 2-3 turns to beat the demon up. Demon will sometimes charm the widow, but I still did almost all of the damage with those before the dwarf broke the demon's magic shield. I believe the dwarf would eventually solo it if you want to just afk that.

I recommend healing the dwarf before destroying the last pillar, the boss does sometimes do some physical damage that will kill him if you leave him at 1hp.
