Does Fane not need to use lockpicks?

I put thievery on Fane (since i already had loremaster on someone else) and when he opens a lock it says "Fane uses his boney finger to unlock the lock" and doesn't use up a lockpick.

So I am wondering if this is some unique ability for Fane or if Thievery doesn't require lockpicks in this game and lockpicks are for use if you don't have thievery.

He does not need, because he is undead and his finger just fits. Same story with the lizards, they can dig with their hands

Undead can use their finger for a lockpick. Skeleton Key...get it? :P
