I'm wondering the same thing myself. I got into this big fight involving a npc (lich?) ally, and when the fight is over the guy "poofs" and there seems to be nothing left to do but jusst leave.
There are also some kind of "buttons" near where the npc was lying, and i cant interact with them
Further to that, anyone know what reward this is for continuing to spare him after you choose to fight and spare him, or let him go without fighting that encounter?
Just for curiousity's sake, I put him down this playthrough :)
If you choose not to fight him here, you can talk to him again:
you can offer him a source point in order to get him to stop eating people. From there, he teleports to his cache (marked on your map, just to the east of where you meet Hannag). There's a bit of extra dialogue (and you'll need a non-undead party member) and he'll wind up leaving you a chest with some goodies.
That closed the quest for me; remains to be seen whether he shows up again.
