Anyone else hate Fane's voice?
His voice really just doesn't fit the character. I was expecting something like Kel'Thuzad but even if they wanted a normal human voice they could have done so much better.

It actually bothers me.

I don't really hate it but you are right about it not being a fit. I expect a little echo at least

How does it not fit the character? You don't even know what he looked like when he was alive lol

It's a sort of english royalty voice, not as snobby as the red prince's, but he projects his voice into people's the way he wants them to hear it.

Him projecting a sinister voice like kelthuzad would be pretty counter productive in my opinion.

Fane seems like quite the prissy uptight scholar so I think his voice fits perfectly

He speaks telepathically so his voice is okay for being a skeleton (dev confirmed).
Just weird then that he moves his jaw when talking.

I think this is correct, especially considering he doesn't want people to get suspicious of him.

Think it fits really well. He isn't supposed to be this intimidating Lich Lord. He's the DaVinci of his people.
eh I was kinda hoping for an "evil" Chris Guerrero sounding voice but the VA they used isn't as bad as the others...
either way the voice fits for my "lich" build so meh

I was definitely thrown off when he introduced his origin story. I was expecting a deeper voice for an undead character and do not like the voice choice personally. More, disappointed, rather.

Can anyone explain to me WHY they think a skeleton should have a particularly deep voice? I don't get it
FlowTrader Sep 15, 2017 @ 6:14am
Besides the fact that maybe an undead character in some previous lore may have had a deep, gravelly voice.. what logical reason would a skeleton have an extra deep voice? Does it get deeper when they die? Enlighten me lol

I like his voice, it does fit the character quite well. A "skeletal voice" doesn't need to resemble anything, it would be too stereotypical.
You must have not met him in the starting area. You get to meet him when he is alive and the voice suites.

Well it depends on what you expect of him, to me Fane is my thief and rogue so him sounding like Kel'Thuzad would be pretty strange, I think you should hear the character and then choose their role, that is why most characters in my party kept their role (with the exception of sebille who I made a ranger instead of a rogue although I find Sebille really creepy I need a dude to eat limbs for my first run through so I can learn everythin)
Like most things we expect, it probably comes from media. You see a movie or shows with skeletons who sound like deep voiced characters or something, or like skeletor, you kinda just assume that's how it sounds.

Even though there's probably things missing in a skeleton that's in a human that causes a human's voice to sound deep. If anything a skeleton probably wouldn't even have a voice box.

It's weird until you think you think about what your reaction would be if someone was speaking without moving their mouth. Body language and movement is as essential to communication as the words are and the lack of such is pretty distracting. He probably moves his jaw to avoid it taking away from his conversation.
