The game supports the ability to play 4 players for their created characters, but in a single player game you can create only one character...
Open Divinity, Host a multiplayer game, local only settings (LAN).
Then go here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\bin
Open the APP 3 times : EoCApp
(Or how every many customs you want (1-3))
The three new clients opended go to muliplayer and join your lan game you hosted on client 1.
Boom you can now make 4 customs. after you have made the 4 and start the game, you can close the 3 extra clients and you have your 4 custom characters.
when in character creation, the origin characters are actually an option and you can still customize them or leave them as deafult while still getting their rich backstory and speach.
So i picked Fane, changed some of his skills and stats and made 3 other Skele's and called them summon 1-3 and I am going full anarchy.
What that work for this "fake multiplayer" also? Or I have to lead conversation separetly by switich current character and keep eye on who should be involved?
Well remember once you create the 4 custom you can close all the clients so it is all on one screen. So its not longer multiplayer after set-up. You just run story. That said you can invite friends or randoms to join at anytime. Divinity is good for the add and drop play.
If you have multiple origin characters in a game and you control them. You do indeed control both sides of the dialogue.

Even pure single player is not perfect. Companions will be involved and the'll request to push theirs plots, but I will not see interesting details of such conversations.
It's a pity that DoS 2 hides some part of dialogs if you don't play it as main character.
I preferred solution from DoS 1, where 2nd character was always included, so I could choose both answers. That was better for having control over plot and dialog conseqences.
I do hope the developers add a feature to create a whole custom team for single player in a normal way, but so far this workaround will do fine!
The game seems to see all of your custom characters as main characters, probably because they were created as such meant for multiplayer and not singleplayer.
I'll write some spoiler here.
The mainquests, those on your path to become Godwoken and collect your source skills can become bugged. You'll have to collect the skill for each custom character and repeat the dialogue with your God again. In Driftwood where you meet Maestr and inhale that hallucinogen gas to meet your God and recieve the next skill you need to control all your custom characters to do it synched, do not do it one character after another. Once you're done you cannot enter the realm to your God again because the hallucinogen gas has disappeared, leaving those other custom characters that did not enter before unable to get the second skill.
Yeah a buddy and I have noticed some similar issues.
It's also tasking to control 4 indepth origin characters. Some of which actually think each others quest lines.
I would advise People to just hold until act 2 and higher mercs and respect. Respecting is free and infinite.
Thanks, take care
