A Problem Occurred: Larian Support Server
Connection to the Larian support server failed. The Larian support tool will be disabled. Unable to connect to the remote server - - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 198.105.244.63:9292

This did not occur in PRE-RELEASE

Basically getting this every boot after release, and does not seem to impact anything crucial.
I did some common things to no avail fixing it; (netsh winsock reset, re-verify, appdata, registery etc, nor a software conflict issue or antivirus issue)

*network.log [network.txt if pre-release] proves game connectivity. Elevation of either program nor firewall is an issue.

The game still starts when prompted "Ok". Running the binary 'EoCApp.exe' goes through without any hitches and loads game.

If accepted, is there a way to opt out, if that is what's causing the issue, or is there a simple fix than using a workaround ? Again, seems no impact as of yet, just inconvenience.

Update but sad news, finally got around to trying again to figure it out, but the outcome is
It still fails if you REG opt out
... below you can even try for yourself:

I took it slow this time, processHacker [a taskman alternative] handles' tab can return reg keys that either can read or write, the key written by SupportTool.exe is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Larian Studios\DOS2\SupportTool
[you can find early access keys in the larian studios key]
You can then quite easily for yourself figure it out from here. The key data may return data as such:
"OriginalSin2Accepted"="yes" "OriginalSin2UploadAllowed"="yes"
  • If you set UploadAllowed to "no" support tool will still 'pop up'.
  • If you set Accepted to "no" support tool AND the game will fail to initalize
Delete the "Larian Studios" or "SupportTool" key [or folder if you dont understand] , run Divinity again, youll be prompted with the agreement, if you decline, well, welcome to the same boat as before, even with a reset and opt out, the issue still continues to occur [for me it still does.]

Oh well... Stick to shortcuts, or waiting. Not sure why this occurs to some of us.

Do you have avast? My friend had this problem because avast kept deleting the Supporttool.exe file.

I'm getting this, too, only the game exits after loading the two credit screens.

Which is annoying because a couple of hours ago everything was working just fine.

Have this problem too, hope they can fix it fast.

I just excluded the DOS2 folder in Avast but I still get the error. Supporttool.exe is there.

Although this doesn't affect the running of the game, it does need to be fixed!

I'm not running any anti-virus, and am getting it, and just like the OP, I don't get it if I run the exe directly rather than through Steam. I also opted in for automatically uploading stats and error logs, and can't find any way to opt out--nothing in config.lsx looks relevant.

The main annoyance is launching through Steam, have to wait a good 30 seconds before the connection attempt times out and the error message appears before the game actually starts up.

For now I'm just launching the exe directly via a shortcut rather than through Steam.

Did all of you hit reject when you very first started the game and it asked if it could harvest your computer specs etc while you play to report problems better?

I rejected that and get the same message, just wondering if it's the cause.

I'm getting this as well. It doesn't cause any issues for me, but the game doesn't actually start until I close it.

I rejected that too and has the same problem, but even if, they should repair such a problem. But luckily the game starts normally for me, it justs pops a window before a game trully starts.
