Cause ES series.
are these the day of teas you recognize?
Also idk where your Problem lies. Lot of people said they like Elves, you know that as well; why argue over this any further. In my Opinion they (atleast Female) are real beautys, simple not overly perfect as classical Elves. And their Skin let's you remind perfectly why this Elves are such an Naturebased Race. Reminds me also a bit on sylvari from Gulid Wars 2.
The only thing which me still bugs me, which simply could be fixed if they would explain ingame via lore, is why the Elves so drastically changed within its universe. If you look at DD and Dragon Commander, the Elves are your everyday perfect beautys, so i don't understand why they look so different.
Sorry, poor example. My image of elves is from other fantasy games or Lord of the Rings etc., when I have seen elves like that in pop culture my whole life my image of elves is equally set as my image of how humans should look.
I think Guild Wars 2 did smart move and renamed elves as sylvari, they should have done that here too (not name them sylvari, I mean something other than elves, even some elf subspecies name would have been fine, like blood elves or something). I like how sylvari look and they are closer to my image of elves than actual elves here.
Then about elf cannibalism, I think elves would be actually more interesting if they look beautiful because its conflicting, now elves look the part, I could easily believe these creatures eat people.
In core my biggest issue is this, elves don't look anything like in cover art or in previous games. As I said I was going to play with elf (as I often do in fantasy games, its my favourite race after all). Well, maybe my core issue might also be that traditional elves are my favourite species in games.
Why do I still argue? To be honest in true internet fashion I got slightly offended when someone called my favourite race boring...
(It is also possible, as was pointed out by someone on Larian's forums, that the elves of the D:OS2 era are the unintended consequence of convincing Princess Lohanna to become a meat-eater in Dragon Commander...)
Dwarves are closer to standard, but not entirely - the typical fantasy dwarf isn't known for cunning or stealthiness, and there've been a few other societal differences highlighted in previous games.
With the exception of some MMORPG's, the 'Tolkien' elves pretty much don't exist in western RPG's. The Elder Scrolls probably come closest, though even those look a bit weird.
I was already turned off by the info that the skeleton apparently is 'first choice' for human girls. There's just too much gross stuff in this game.
It's always the same in western RPG's, other races are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to be able to glorify humans as much as possible.
