They do look better than in Dragon Age 2 at least...
I disagree. Have you seen faces of elves in this game?

I am sorry, but elves in this game look absolutely awful in my eyes, though I am fine them eating people. I am not huge fan of stereotypes either, but in this case I would take any elf stereotype over this. Because they wear human face and skin it makes things even worse, they look like some weird mutants created by chernobyl radiation. If their color would be somehing other than human or they had scales or fur or something that they didnt look at all like humans I would be fine with them, though I wish there would be one skin option for elf that makes them look like same than in game cover art.

Speaking about cover art its compeletely misleading considering how elves look like ingame, why?

I was going to play elf in this game (based on cover art), but my choice was human after I saw there is no elf model that I could tolerate through game, its unlikely my party has elf either. Yeah yeah, I am hardcore elf-racist...

I apologize my harsh words from artist that created elves for Original Sin 2, they just don't match my taste at all, majority seem to like them though.

Speaking of races, is it too much to ask for a game/book/whatever with elves, dwarves, etc. to be based in modern times, instead of medieval ones all the time? Now that would be interesting.

That is what you will find in Shadowrun. There are about two or three games, they come in bundles now as well. Turn based combat RPG.

Tolkien elves are boring and overused.
Salvatore / Greenwood elves are even more boring and even more overused.

There is race that is far more overused than traditional elves, humans. Humans are same in every game, but no one seem to be bored playing with them. This is fantasy game, so humans could have two heads, eight arms and four legs, that would make them more interesting, right?

They changed definition of elf with this one, only thing that is elven in these creatures are pointy ears.

Anyway I am sure someone will mod them at some point, hopefully soon...

probably a subsect of gnomes, who were driven to cohabitate with dwarves, who managed to somehow flee those dwarves before their subterranean extinction after being interbred beyond their own genetic recognition.

these gnomes somehow made contact with elves, briefly dissuaded them from their abstract pursuits in escaping eastward into immortality and convinced them to admire the mechanics of admiralty and abeyance.

using these subterranean mechanisms in harmony with the secret accordance of the gnome/dwarves, who were now entirely disappeared, the elves began to breed their own genetic strains to goblins and orcs and gnolls, seeking to create amongst randomness a genetic mutation that recreated the gnome/dwarvish hybrid natural offspring that could no longer exist under the order of the natural law of the hand of fate.

eventually this vast, extended lineage of original elves grew tired of themselves and their original plans to create their superior, mutated, and exterminated hereditary benefactors (and now extinct extraterrestrial ancestrals) and so turned to feast on human flesh just for the fun of it.

crows turned into maggots.

DOZAH Sep 15, 2017 @ 2:57pm
it's an explanation given with fantastical meanings,

because people can't accept the simple one. meta physical reality.

you aren't western culture, you are african culture people. you listen to your jay z and r kelly while you turn on the oprah winfrey channel and vote for obama.

metamorphosize doesn't even begin to cover that.

stop making video games and move back to africa and save the rest of us the work, abraham lincoln.

worship a woman god, too. christ never had a women to worship next to him because he was already enough of a ♥♥♥♥♥. it's all you need.

If they're supposed to look so different than the stereotypical elves why does the loading screen feature a stereotypical elf? And why are the dwarves ripped straight out of every fiction featuring dwarves?

Everyone knows this is from Dwarf Fortress, right? Where the elves eat the sentient due to a long standing bug that became a feature? Many great stories about the filthy tree hugging cannibals over on the Bay12 forums. I think it's a fun change to the usual trope - and since when did Dwaves get +1 to sneaking in any lore? They had to hire a hobbit thief because they are so loud and so on, at least in Tolkien's reimagining of the Duergar/Svartalf.

it seems like they've drawn more from the old nordic legends of elves and not the Tolkien one ..
