Div2 DKS and "Canonical" OS2 ending (spoiler heavy thread)
I'm not using the spoiler tags since the whole thread can be seen as one so...

Purging Source so that the Veil can be sealed is what is seen as "Canonical," from what I've read and gathered. Lucian remains alive, Veil is sealed. The DKS, which is about what, just under 40 years after OS2? has Lucian as alive (check) and the only "Divine" (though the world at large doesn't know he's not really....), but imprisoned for most of the story, and the Veil intact (check). So that would seem to confirm the Purge option fits canon?

Yes, the Purge Source ending exists pretty much solely to explain-away the lack of Source and the presence of Lucian in Divinity 2. What little we saw of Divinity: Fallen Heroes before it got cancelled also outright stated the ending was canon, so that's a pretty good indication of where the developers stand on the issue.

Does anyone actually care about lore in these games? It always felt like an afterthought to me and like they weren't really taking it seriously.

I find it interesting, which is one thing I have to come to terms with OS2 over as some things need to be viewed with a grain of salt to take it with any real previous canon.

I will say that with both OS1 and OS2 I sometimes feel like they both had their roots as not being Divinity games but were changed after development started. More so OS1 than 2 though.

Technically it was put on indefinite hiatus, but as Larian is working on BG3, and the third party developer who was making it both failed to deliver a sellable game, then quit the project entirely, it's fairly certain that Fallen Heroes is gone for good, unless Larian secretly passed off the project to another 3rd party.

Honestly, I hope Larian themselves pick it back up after their finished with BG3. Divinity flavored XCOM looked like a ton of fun, and it was also going to be interesting to see more of how the characters and the world developed.
