Crafting Recipes?
Is there a vendor that has most of these books? I need to make a leather glove. Can you even make special weapons this time around? I found a bottle of swirling mud which I vaguely recall was used to create a special one handed sword in the first game. Any advice?

Not really. If you're trying to craft the Raven set, any finesse gloves work. They might say chain or something, but as long as they're finesse based, they'll work. Far as I know, you can only craft chest slot armors.

If it's for the vulture armor, any finesse piece works as "leather."

There are no recipe merchants in the game. Just look at the Wiki for all the recipes.

as far as leather gloves, you can buy any non-magical finesse gloves off a vendor and they will work for the vulture recipe. I had to do the same, myself

Yeah it was for the armor set. I, have to be honest, that did somewhat took the wind out of my excitement a little. I thought the crafting system in the first game had potential, I was wondering why I was finding mostly recipes for runes, grimoires and potions mostly. Finding this item called the "bottle of swirling mud" sort of gave me hope that there was more to weapon/armour crafting that I am missing...

Speaking of which, what do I use this item for this time around? In the first game it was a core ingredient to craft one of first unique swords in the game. Sword Of The Planets I think it was called? Dose the bottle of swirling mud have a use or is it just an easter egg of sorts?

No real use. Crafting, as well as much of the last act was rushed then never really returned to. Sad, but that's the economy of gaming nowadays I suppose.
