Is this like Dragon Age: Inquisition?
I loved that game. If this is like that game,, which it looks like based on my very limited knowledge, I'll buy.

Definitely some important similarities. Story, character building, companions and romances and different quest lines with some "Choose your own adventure" type choices. The major difference is that when a combat encounter initiates, it freezes and you play it out in strategic turn-based mode -- it's really pretty fun but it's a different pace. There are a lot more factors like team synergy, different spells and environment effects like water puddles, electricity, electrified water puddles, blood, poison, etc.. I loved Dragon Age and I love Divinity Original Sin 2 too, for a lot of common reasons.

Not really...? They're pretty much apples to oranges.

Unless you're constantly pausing Inquisition, there is absolutely nothing similar between the two games.

I'm also referring to the story and dialogue options and stuff like that, not solely combat. Is it like that game in those senses?

Hard to say here as I never finished inquisition. The constant collectibles search gets annoying and it would distract me enough that I eventually lost interest.

This game lacks that aspect btw. It’s pretty decent as far as the companions and all that go. The main story is iffy depending on what you criticize.

It's a top-down, turn-based strategy game that has heavy story elements where choices can affect quest outcomes greatly. Having played through Inquisition 3 times myself, they are not alike. Imo, Divinity has a better story, class progression and gameplay. If you've got a friend or 3, you can play this in co-op. It's an absolute blast. The modding community is quite active and can further expand the core experience. I've dropped 770 hours in Divinity because it has great replay value, again because of those choices you can make and different builds you can craft with mods.

It's as similar to Inquisition as it is to any other isometric RPG title. You'd need to squint really hard to make them look even vaguely similar, and at that point every game in the genre would look more or less identical.

Yes, buy it!

if you are rpg gamer, it's a must play

I loved inquisition for its characters, its immersions, and its story. It basically plays like an epic fantasy movie. Divinity 2 is no such thing, the combat is great, way better than in inquisition i would say, but it's hard to get immersed in the story. The game is so silly, so all over the place, seriously i can't stick to it.

they both fall under the blanket of crpg but there's some big differences

dos2 isn't 'cinematic' and doesn't have nearly as much side-padding and fetch-questing, and the encounter design is very thoughtful. it's open-area like inquisition but everything is hand-placed, no random enemy spawns and most fights sorta take place in their own little 'arenas' with terrain features and props to exploit more often than not. there's no 'management' side of things and the crafting system is rudimentary, not exploitable like inquisition's. the system is classless and it's easy to have hybrids.

being turn-based is also a big difference

divinity is technically a 'smaller' game in terms of single playthroughs but the openness of accomplishing objectives related to the main quest, and the vast variety of ways in which it can be played, makes it much more replayable in my experience

if you liked the combat or 'feel' of inquisition you probably will find lots to enjoy, but if you were primarily drawn to that game for its story or cinematics or characters, dos2 is deliberately a bit weaker on those fronts

Polar opposite games. For once, this one is good (if you mod away the incredibly idiotic armor system, Divinity Unleashed will do the job).

To each their own. I find the armor system to be pretty well done honestly. The entire point is to remove the RNG reliance the first game had so combat is predictable instead of random. In that respect, it does quite well. Most complaints people have about the armor system really lie with the character creation system instead.
