combat skills max at 5? [solved]
We found out what the issue was.. It was a bug with the controller ui and lonewolf.

I thought the wiki said 10... I have only 5 into the base and 5 from lonewolf and i cannot level it past 10 max. But oddly enough items will still raise it.. wtf?

Im confused.

Combat skills are soft locked at 10 and you can go past the limit with items.
Raigavin Oct 24, 2017 @ 1:00pm
Is there a soft lock for the stats too?

It's because you tried to from the mirror (which is bugged when you try to skill up something wih lone wolf or bonus from stuff).
Stabbey Oct 24, 2017 @ 1:18pm
Combat skills max at 10, but the cap can be exceeded with items and such. For skill-granting schools, there's not a big reason to invest past 5 as that's the maximum number if points you need to learn all skills of the school.

Civil skills max at 5, but the cap can be exceeded with items and such.

Attributes (STR/INT/FIN/CON/etc...) are capped at 40 but the cap can be exceeded with items and such.

..... Really?
I cannot help but be deeply frustrated right now.. That bug was present in the last divinity game and you are telling me they STILL did not even bother to fix it.

:/

Im like 50 hours into the campaign right now. Is there anyway to fix this?

Yes, you remove the points inside the mirror, you leave the mirror, and you skill up as if you leveled up normally

Just tried it... It sort of works but not really.
I can now level them past 10 (with lonewolf still on)
But the moment the skill is past 10 and i exit and re-enter my character stat menu it refuses to let me add anymore.

Ill have to do this everytime i level up... hmm.
Is the mirror always going to be around till i beat the game? Im in the middle of act 2

Edit: to clarify i am not adding anything in the mirror at all. i removed all my points while in
mirror and then exited and entered my char screen and distributed the points.

i dont understand what the problem is your having. without the use of items you cant raise a skill over 10, lone wolf adds 2 points at a time instead of one and still wont let you raise them over 10

Well. I am able to raise it over ten by using the mirror..
So is it a bug that you can raise them over 10 with lonewolf+mirror? Or a bug that i cannot normally do so without everything being buggy?
This is why im confused XD

http://divinityoriginalsin2.wiki.fextralife.com/Combat+Abilities
"You cannot invest more than 10 points into any single Combat Ability, but you can take it higher than 10 via equipment or the Lone Wolf talent. Characters start with 2 points and gain one additional point each time they level up."

This makes it sound like lonewolf will enable it to be over 10.. But in my case with lonewolf it stops at 10 in total. Base+lonewolf extra points.

I could level over ten base without lone wolf. For attributes (>40) and combat skills. Believe that maybe a bug, so after using the mirror i had significantly lowered skills because they were at max base (which is how it probably should be..).

It seems on level up it does not check for any max for me at all..

You can't have more than 10 base.
But if you have (for exemple) 6 base and 4 from item, you'll be able to go to 14 when you respec with the miror (10 base +4 items).

Here you guys go. If you dont understand.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzJuOTsfM1o&feature=youtu.be

Once i raise a skill past 10 (base or not) and then leave the level up screen it refuses to let me put anymore points into it next time i go back into the screen.
