If Hannag requires killing animans (and I've heard you'll also lose your pet pal talent also!), I have to assume the other source teachers have their own negative drawbacks. What other negatives do the others have? I'm trying to figure out the lesser of evils here lol
Options for increasing your Source points are:
-Saheila, after you rescue her from Roost. She'll make you connected to the elven tree root network. Which seems pretty minor compared to killing a bunch of innocents, but you'll be connected to the Mother Tree, kind of a hive mind thing.
-Jahan, who will tell you to consume the Source of his two captive demons. They explode.
-Mordus, who makes you eat a Voidwoken heart. Ugh.
-Almira the succubus. You kiss her, which makes you vulnerable to becoming her thrall. Do you trust her?
-The Advocate, as mentioned above. You kill some prisoners, and discover their bodies later.
-Ryker, the graveyard guy. You consume the Source of a bunch of the dead who are at rest in the graveyard.
-Hannag, of course, as described by the OP.
I think that's all of them. There are no easy answers here. You can get by with just doing two of them, but if you do the others you'll get skill books. Jahan's is particularly interesting. It's a unique skill you can't get anywhere else, and it's pretty powerful especially for a melee character. So I recommend doing at least two others and then Jahan's.
In terms of Hannags, no animals actually die. It's just dialog. She will delete pet pal of the character that spoke with her though, so remove the talent from the mirror before handing it in then respec petpal. Otherwise I think it's gone for good. So long as it's not specced into when you hand in the quest, it's fine.
I don't think any of the other source masters have draw backs.
Isn't she delete random talent from you if you wear pet pal before? Never had a chance to test it yet but saw couple of messages about it.
