Learning from Hannag, chosing the lesser of evils [minor spoilers]
So I'm at the point where you have to decide if you'll accept gaining more source power by stealing it from innocent animals (killing them in the process), when encountering Hannag.

I love animals irl, have always owned many pets, treat them like my children. If I decline Hannag's offer to expand my source skill, how badly will I be screwing over my character progression? Is there an alternative method to progressing source power without having to kill harmless animals? I know its just a game but the roleplayer in me still doesn't wan't to kill animals even though they're make-believe! lol ... but I guess I will if its needed to progress the game in the best way. Feel free to include minor spoilers about this specific issue, thanks!

(edit)
After some further research it seems that if you take Hannag's route you'll lose pet pal talent, (and be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ person overall for killing animals >_<). I also found there are

There are about 5 people in ACT 2 who can improve your Source Points and your max is 3, so you can skip half of them and be just fine.

Cool, thanks. Could you tell me what kinda negative thing these other avenues require as compared to Hannag's?
If Hannag requires killing animans (and I've heard you'll also lose your pet pal talent also!), I have to assume the other source teachers have their own negative drawbacks. What other negatives do the others have? I'm trying to figure out the lesser of evils here lol

Well, there's one which forces you to kill a bunch of people in some distant place you can't see; you don't discover who or where these people are until later in the game; another asks you to sleep with a Succubus but I'd already had my Source Points by then so I don't know what her cost was. Another is about sucking the source from hundreds of dead bodies ... None of them are good, it's just a matter of which evil you're willing to accept in pursuit of your goals.

The guy who believes he can help Lohse, just outside the evil island with all the demons in ACT 2; when you accept the power, you get the impression of people dying and later, in Arx, you find the dungeon where all these people were being kept.

This game is so good, its making me REALLY CARE which route I pick lol ...Soul searching to decide the lesser of evils to further your journey to save the world...ugh. The ends justifying the means is a slippery moral slope!! ... The death do innocent animals is so far the easiest one by far to rule out though :)

The guy who believes he can help Lohse is "Jahan", he's at x300/y285 - north of the Troll Marg bridge. A cool note about Jahan, apparently he was an important character from DoS part 1 which in this universe took place thousands of years ago, so that deomonologist is hella old and powerful.

Is there any notable negative consequence or story point later on that you will miss out on if you Kill Hannag? I'm kinda leaning towards killing her but not if she has any interesting contribution to the story later in the game :)

I left her alone and she was never referenced again in-game.

Warning - spoilers all...

Options for increasing your Source points are:
-Saheila, after you rescue her from Roost. She'll make you connected to the elven tree root network. Which seems pretty minor compared to killing a bunch of innocents, but you'll be connected to the Mother Tree, kind of a hive mind thing.
-Jahan, who will tell you to consume the Source of his two captive demons. They explode.
-Mordus, who makes you eat a Voidwoken heart. Ugh.
-Almira the succubus. You kiss her, which makes you vulnerable to becoming her thrall. Do you trust her?
-The Advocate, as mentioned above. You kill some prisoners, and discover their bodies later.
-Ryker, the graveyard guy. You consume the Source of a bunch of the dead who are at rest in the graveyard.
-Hannag, of course, as described by the OP.

I think that's all of them. There are no easy answers here. You can get by with just doing two of them, but if you do the others you'll get skill books. Jahan's is particularly interesting. It's a unique skill you can't get anywhere else, and it's pretty powerful especially for a melee character. So I recommend doing at least two others and then Jahan's.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, if losing the Pet Pal talent is the deal-breaker for you (it was for me, my main PC was the only char in my party who had that talent) you can decline her offer the first time, then talk to her again with a different character and accept. You only lose Pet Pal on the person who talks to her.

Rescue Saheila, interrogate Mordus and killing the advocate. Those are the "hero" RP choices for increasing your source here.

In terms of Hannags, no animals actually die. It's just dialog. She will delete pet pal of the character that spoke with her though, so remove the talent from the mirror before handing it in then respec petpal. Otherwise I think it's gone for good. So long as it's not specced into when you hand in the quest, it's fine.

I don't think any of the other source masters have draw backs.

Isn't she delete random talent from you if you wear pet pal before? Never had a chance to test it yet but saw couple of messages about it.
