How did Lucian die?
I'm a little confused on this. It said he died, but it doesn't seem to explain how. The only way to kill the divine is through the atearen or the other blade you can find in act 2, or so i thought?

stop searching about characters in the internet... unless you want to ruin your story by getting spoiled. Just an advice

Well, you see, one day he was sitting on the toilet and was having a difficult time so he pushed and he pushed and then he died. That is all.

While eating a peanut butter and banana sandwich. That's how all god kings die.

If the answer is a spoiler, i'll delete the post. I'm just confused as to why the game is so vague on it.

Lucian was supposed to have been killed by a Dragon Knight in front of his whole army. It was kinda a big deal and lead to the great Dragon purges and the formation of the Dragon Slayers.

But apparently Divinity 2 is non-canon now and he was apparently killed by Deathfog which he himself ordered used in a war crime to genocide the elves (to also get the Black Ring). Spoilers, the Black Ring still exists. Great job with that Lucy.

The game isn't vague persay. It's just treated like common knowledge in the game and the dialogue the character you play as hears it as such. So you could miss it yes.

You will find out eventually. reading books in the game will help you a lot to understanding the story

The Aeteran is just a purging tool with a limitless capacity for source, it's not any more or less capable of killing the divine than a normal purging wand.

Someone answer me this please: If Lucien is still alive, why are the gods helping us to grow more powerful and become the next divine? They're obviously not looking for a successor since Lucien plans to kill all Godwoken. It seems like a plothole to me. If Lucien is the embodiment of the gods, why would the god's betray him and search for a new divine instead of just killing him if they really didn't like him?

Also if Lucien is the embodiment of the Gods, how did he not know the Gods were training the next generation of Godwoken?

If the gods are actually in on Luciens plot to kill all Godwoken, why would they help us obtain the power necessary to kill Lucien? If the plan was to kill us all along why wait until the last second when we are already too powerful? Better yet, why even save us in the games opening scene?

Whether the Gods are allied with Lucien or enemies of him, their motives for everything in this game make no sense to me.

Final question: How is it possible to become the divine at the end of the game when we killed the gods in act 3? More importantly, how does Lucien still have his powers even though the gods are dead?

Refer to the first comment. All of your questions are answered once you finish the game. I know its a bit vague and a chaotic story, but that's where good story comes from. Believe me, it's best you enjoy the game as you progress...

I've beaten the game once and I am almost about to finish the game on my second playthrough. The plot still makes no sense.

If the Gods are allied with Lucien then they must agree with him when he says he wants to kill all Godwoken. If that is the case, why are they helping Godwoken to ascend? Why did they save us from the wreck in the games opener?

If the Gods are enemies of Lucien, why not just kill him? If Lucien is too powerful for them to kill but they still want him dead, why do they try to kill us in act 3? We've proven that we are the only ones powerful enough to challenge Lucien yet for some reason the God's turn on us when we fail to sieze divinity?

Also, why are the gods pissed off at us when we fail to ascend? It's not possible to ascend if Lucien is still alive.

Also, how is it possible for the god's to be the living embodiment of two different people at once? So we're supposed to be the avatar of the gods and Lucien is supposed to be the avatar of the gods, how is it possible to have two avatars at the same time?

Erm?
Lucian didn't die there. He was imprisoned in some plane at the end of Ego Draconis, Hypernomachia or whatevs... Lucian also did not die to deathfog. He dies to YOU. Did you even reach Arx? ♥♥♥♥ man x_x

Which means you didn't comprehend it, Lucian's crypt is made from Tenebreum which means the Gods couldn't sense him which means they have no idea its Lucian who is draining them of their source
