Undead guy in Gargoyle Maze & Lava Area
Can anyone inform me of what happens with these two? I've played through the game several times, scanned guides online, and have yet to still figure out what is going on with these two parts:

1. The undead guy that's eternally on fire in the Gargoyle Maze. I could never pass a Persuasion Check. Is there anything significant story or otherwise that he reveals to you? (Oh man is this guy annoying too).

2. The portal area that leads to the location with lava. I tried to see if there was any place I could fly or teleport and came up with nothing. Is there anything significant about this area except the one chest?

I've played through Act 1 so many times, I'm frankly exhausted. Very curious if anyone has any web links or experience they can share.

I have seen somewhere that you can remove the eternal fire of this guys if you put blood on him with "blood rain" and then using "bless" on the blood.
I couldn't try myself, I didn't have any Necromancer in my team at this moment.

You don't need blood rain, any blood will do. I just used Flesh Sacrifice on my elf to create blood, teleport the dude on it, then bless the blood.

Teleportation deals damage. Didn't the guy started a fight against you ?

Blood rain, teleport an elf up and sac flesh, teleport anyone up and smack em.
He will be all relieved when the fire is doused by the blood.... But he will be bleeding and taking a DOT effect. Bless the blood, and he becomes free of his curse.

You can hit the historian as much as you want, he's too busy burning in internal necro fire to start a fight with you.

I think OP's referring to the conversation AFTER saving the Historian from eternal fire. I don't think there is a way to make him talk about his discovery in detail. (Couldn't find anything from his dialog file either) There is no Persuasion check AFAIK. Sebille seems to have some unique dialogue options but choosing those doesn't seem to reveal anything interesting. Yeah he made me want to seriously put him back on fire
About the lava dimension, IIRC, other than the skull and the chest, there is a blank skillbook, a dwarven dagger and a corpse with minor loot. Reachable through portals outside of the room with the Historian. I have no idea where or what this place is though.

Also you can bypass one of the locked gates by going through the elevated portal then back through when leaving the maze if you don't teleport to a waypoint. The first time you enter the elevated portal there is a skeleton and blank skillbook on a ledge you can use teleport, cloak & dagger or tactical retreat to get to. The items won't be there the second time you go through.

Thank you! That's exactly what I was asking. The lava room seems very odd to me. Maybe unfinished content?
