This game has way too much reading for a game...
I stopped playing because I hated all the reading (emphasis on hate). Instead of reading a real book or something meaningful, I read text in a video game. If I spent half as much time reading textbooks instead, I would've gotten A's at school.

I'm going to give it another try and see if I can get into it this time. good luck me.

All the books can be ignored, the useful ones update questlogs which are optional to read; the others offer schematics for crafting ( normally ).

Every NPC line is spoken out aloud, no reading required. Including quirky animal lines if you have pet pal.

I was too impatient to listen, so I just read before the NPCs could finish.

Yes, reading difficult....

I mean, You picked a game that's heavy on story, and has a lot in it to read.
This game doesn't have much reading compared to Dragon Age Origins or Tyranny tbh. Most conversations in DOS2 are pretty straight forward and don't branch out. I don't know what you expected from an RPG which has Story Rich as a tag.

lol, funny kid. Hope you grow up and learn to read.

But I highly suggest just either A. Ignore the story (though silly and idk why you would play a story rpg then) B. Play one them Battle Royal jokes of a game that have 0 reading and require nothing that might be more your speed.

Classic story of buying a game without knowing what it is, and then complaining that it's not what you want it to be.

I don't think a game can have too much of anything (except empty space or korok seeds). It's the flexibility of games that often makes it more appealing to me compared to other media. No matter what you want, fast or slow, 2 hours to 200 hours, no text or only text; the game has already been made. Just buy the right one instead of taking a dump on the thing that sets it apart from other entertainment.

Also ngl I think text games have been good for me in the past. I went to restudy for my English grades 6 or so years after leaving school and came back with top marks. Not saying it was definitely games that helped but something changed in that time. All I'm saying is that you can't delegitimise the quality of writing just because it's not printed and sold as a hard copy.

If you want combat without the narrative you might want to try the XCOM games. The narrative is still there but it's easier to get through without paying attention.

How exactly is reading a random book more meaningful than reading text in a random videogame?

I find it very strange when people start threads like this. Is it their intention to insult themselves? I can't imagine any other result.

How about "Game is too hard on story mode"?

The books are optional, you can quickly mass read them to grab any crafting recipes, quest clues etc, by double clicking and hitting escape as you go. Dialogue comes with a narrator for most of the stuff, so you don't even have to read, only listen.

When I first played DOS2, I pretty much ignored the books and most of the story. I'm replaying it now, and I absolutely love the books and I'm taking my time enjoying the story.

Maybe when you're older, you'll appreciate the finer things in life and in video games - like me.
