Every NPC line is spoken out aloud, no reading required. Including quirky animal lines if you have pet pal.
But I highly suggest just either A. Ignore the story (though silly and idk why you would play a story rpg then) B. Play one them Battle Royal jokes of a game that have 0 reading and require nothing that might be more your speed.
I don't think a game can have too much of anything (except empty space or korok seeds). It's the flexibility of games that often makes it more appealing to me compared to other media. No matter what you want, fast or slow, 2 hours to 200 hours, no text or only text; the game has already been made. Just buy the right one instead of taking a dump on the thing that sets it apart from other entertainment.
Also ngl I think text games have been good for me in the past. I went to restudy for my English grades 6 or so years after leaving school and came back with top marks. Not saying it was definitely games that helped but something changed in that time. All I'm saying is that you can't delegitimise the quality of writing just because it's not printed and sold as a hard copy.
If you want combat without the narrative you might want to try the XCOM games. The narrative is still there but it's easier to get through without paying attention.
Maybe when you're older, you'll appreciate the finer things in life and in video games - like me.
