Rank Origin Quests?
I'm considering doing one more Origin questline after Sebile and Lohse
Would anybody care to rank the other characters storyline for me please?

Thanks for any help! :)

Fane is great. Beast. Avoid Red Prince. Ifan is meh.

Thanks!
Been reading up on Fane and people seem to have problems with him being recognised. Beast sounds good, thanks!

Ifan was my first origin character, enjoyed it.
Fane is interesting to play as thanks to his place in the story of the world

IMHO, the best ones are:
Lohse > Sebille > Fane = Ifan > Red Prince > Beast

For me it’s:
Red Prince (as a companion/romance option)
Sebille
Lohse (first time around, not the same after)
Beast
Fane
Ifan.

Ifan I’ve never really given a fair chance. I lose interest with him before I get outta act one.

Only thing I like about Fane is his source ability. Nothing else to say, I feel he just wasn’t involved enough.

Red and Sebille have the most detached stories, something important for companion characters. I also just find them the most interesting.

Beast is a dwarf. He does dwarf things. Not too spectacular but not bad either.

Lohse was great, but not as fun the second time around for me. The mystery of the thing in her mind was the best part. Once you know everything to know about it, it just isn’t the same.

Thanks very much for the replies, it does prove the whole "different strokes for different folks" theory! 😂.
I think I may have to do 2 more runs!
Thank you all!

Yeah, many people don’t like the Red Prince. His personality puts them off. Personally though, I feel like he’s the most well written and frankly, the best personality for the character of them all. Sure he’s hard to get along with, but he’s supposed to be. That’s what makes it great. I specifically mention that he’s best as a companion as I don’t really feel like you gain much from his story you didn’t already get by playing as him. That, and I love his interactions if you try to romance him. I can’t think of another character in a different game I thought was better written or liked more than him.

But many people have different opinions for the same reasons I like him. Each person is different.

In terms of their story arc (mainly based off classic edition):
Lohse>Fane>TRP>Sebille>Beast>Ifan

In terms of the personality of the characters:
TRP>Fane>Beast>Lohse>Sebille>Ifan

1. Lohse: I don't actually think Lohse is a very interesting character by herself but her demon makes up for it, especially if you run her as your main. I don't think the gravity of the Doctors deeds are ever properly felt without her as a reference.

2. Fane: Fane's side story is very much a worthy enhancement to the main story rather than being its own self-contained thing. His deadpan personality subverts what you'd expect when you first hear about undead in a fantasy game. I was also half worried that they would make too many bone jokes but they absolutely owned it. Take him to a certain pimp and see for yourself.

3. TRP: While his origin story is only loosely related to the main story at best TRPs end goal is arguably even more badass than achieving godhood. It's mostly a romance arc but one that's a lot more complicated than any of the other characters. And he's a pleasantly down to earth character if you can look past his condescending comments. Definitely the games top 'bro-tier' character.

4. Sebille: No amount of playthroughs can make me give a flip about elven tradition. I like the revenge plot but the journey is nowhere near as interesting as the destination. Her moral greyness makes her a comfortable fit in any party, but her social awkwardness naturally causes her to drop into the background. She is only ever in one of two mindsets: Hostile and Clingy.

5. Beast: Similar to Sebille or TRP his story ties more to his personal heritage rather than the pursuit of godhood. The fact that it's a story full of dwarves does little to mix up the generic 'stop monarch from doing evil thing' trope. But Beast himself is a likeable guy, being a pirate who carries all the token-dwarf mannerisms that you would expect.

6. Ifan: His story is pretty dead. His secret mission is to do all of the things that you were going to do anyway. His ruthless reputation feels like a crutch for shoehorning him into the narrative. In many ways he's still a fairly blank character despite pursuing a redemption story; someone that Larians main demographic (male humans) can project onto. His story goes completely stale by the time you're done at Reaper's Coast, never changing. Also his personality sucks. I believe he's the only character to ever be displeased with me during the post-game conversations.

Thanks for elaborating on that, yes he does sound interesting, I don't go for romancing characters in games , it's not something that I consider, yet on many RPG forums, it's a major point for many players apparently !
Thanks!

Wow ! So much to take in there !

I think the best thing for me to do, is make a full party and do all quests fully, minus Ifan and Beast, then LW Duo them and see how it goes!
Thank you so much for taking the time to collate all of that and present it in such an easy to digest fashion, I'm sure many people will get great insight, after reading it.

Thank you!

To each their own. I mention the romance concept with him specifically as his story itself revolves around a romance with the Red Princess. So the story gets all the more interesting when you mix your way into that and complicate things further.

That, and you get some of the best dialogues in the game doing it. Even now, I'd replay with the intent to do just that simply to laugh at those interactions again. Once you get past his initial pompous attitude, he's a really well done character.
