Can't tell the fire slug queen that Braccus Rex is dead

Despite having Pet Pal on the Red Prince, when trying to tell the fire slug queen that Braccus Rex is dead, which would allow me safe passage, the option doesn't show, and instead all I can do is claim I never heard of him, which instantly initiates combat that my party is totally unable to win.

What the ♥♥♥♥ did I miss?

I don't think telling her he's dead does allow safe passage.

You can respec mages if they're pyro, or give them a bow or something, or you can cheese it, by teleporting them 1 at a time to the area where the single Fireslug is.

You can also walk around them till you wish to fight them anyway.

Have you talked with the lone slug that is near the enterance? He will tell you why the queen is upset provided you chose the correct dialogue and that will trigger the dialogue with the queen.

OK, never knew there was that dialogue.

You need pretty much all the XP you get, if you want to get to Lvl 6 to fight Dallis, so you need to kill them anyway if that's what you intend.

I figured it out, I think. You need to get to where Withermoore's soul jar is located, and inspect the Braccus statue there, for some infernal reason. After doing this, I got the dialog option for the Red Prince to marry her.

So, this option seems to be dependent on the Withermoore quest line having reached a certain point. In case someone else wonders in the future.
