Ranger, Wayfarer, Conjurer, and Fighter are all passably built, but they all feature some useless stat investments.
Battlemage, Inquisitor, Cleric, and Witch, meanwhile, were clearly made by people who have no idea how to play the game.
TL;DR: Customizing your class is obviously the best choice, but Knight, Rogue, Wizard, Enchanter, and Shadowblade work fine if you're in a rush, and Ranger, Wayfarer, Conjurer, and Fighter work decently if you're feeling brave.
Basically, you need to behave how you would if confronted with this sort of situation in real life. You're alone on a prison island, unarmed and unarmored, with no allies, and with your Source powers locked away. You should avoid picking fights with armed/armored enemies and focus on finding gear and allies to bolster your chances. Theft is a great way to help this process along. Once you've got your feat under you, you can start worrying about optimal builds and such.
"Class" doesn't mean the same in this game as in other games. All it governs is your starting stat allocation, which is customizable anyway. Don't worry too much about it. Before long, you'll have the opportunity to respec anyway.
Keep it fun don't do a tactical run yet...
I like to keep the party small Duo... (both can be lone wolf)
I like to have both be undead so that i can feign death with both and break combat at will
I prefer Geomancy with scoundrel and Necro Scoundrel as my team but hey do your thing...
It's fun ... don't go using guides too fast...
It would just make the game so much easier to play when it comes to combat, dialogue, and being the pack mule.
I hate switching characters all the time while on the approach and for other menial tasks.
The game is tedious enough. I don't need another 30 hours of playing swap meet.
Not even sure how this happened ?_?
"After playing this game for over 200 hours now, I wish my character was a sword and shield Fighter with high persuasion, strength and health. "
Just respec into that at start of act 2
I have no idea why you'd think this after 200 hours. Sword+Shield fighters with high health are among the most useless builds in the game. Every character should be able to hold their own offensively, aggro isn't a mechanic you can effectively abuse, and constitution is the single worst attribute in the game by a wide margin.
If you're playing something like a Necromancer using a one-handed sword for stats and a good shield for defense and Shield Throw, sure. But the RPG archetypal sword+shield tank fighter is very weak in DOS2.
Maybe I should be more precise. Sword and Shield can be good for mages in act 1.
