Quite a bit confused on the map...
I've been playing this game off 'n on for quite some time and still never totally grasped the way the map and quests work. I'll bullet point each one to make it easier to answer if you could:
  1. I'm not sure what the red or yellow flags mean tbh. I get over to that area and although something is there, no matter what I do I can't seem to activate what I need to do. For example at Reaper's Coast there are 7 yellow flags. Not sure what to do about these? I'll continue to search the interwebs but hopefully someone can offer some advice about them.

  2. "On the ropes" quest. All points are checked, "Gwydian is dead." shows at the top. Is this quest completed? If so, why won't it show "Completed"?

  3. The "Powerful Awakening" quest. "Waking Ryker" has a flag, the quest is grayed out as is the "On map". Same goes for "Saheila's Reward".
I think that's it for now. All help will be greatly appreciated!!

1. Most of the flags are just points of interest or notes about a location of someone/thing. They're not quest markers. They don't necessarily go away if you clear the thing you need to do there and they don't necessarily mean that there's something you need to do right at that spot. This game doesn't hold your hand objective to objective, often because there are multiple ways to complete a quest.

2. Some objectives might still be available, even if there isn't really anything obvious. It might also just be an oversight depending on what you did and in what order. Don't worry, most of the time you're not missing out on anything even if the quest isn't marked as closed. The objectives themselves give the rewards, not the quest changing to [closed].

3. Hard to say. These are the main source giver quests so if you have full three source points, then technically they're not needed anymore. You should still do them, but as far as the main quest is concerned, they're not necessary. Powerful Awakening I think is just the main quest itself while Ryker and Saheila are just two of the many people that can help complete them. There's like 7 total. Can get to three source points in like 30 minutes if you know what to do. One is basically free and the other requires killing a level 15 boss that a level 4 party could technically do.

Above is pretty accurate, so I'll just add some generic stuff. The game generally doesn't tell you where to go for quests. The quest log is a reminder of what you already know, not an indicator of what to do next. Any markers you have for quests are probably there because you learned about that location, such as through conversation. You usually have to think and explore thoroughly to complete quests, rather than just follow the waypoint like many RPGs. Several quests also have multiple ways of doing them, and multiple ways of messing with them, so trying to make sure everything is marked as complete may not be possible. As long as a quest feels like its reached its resolution, you are probably fine. "Uncompleted" quests specific to that area should close on their own when you go to the next act.
