Autosort will help you though. It typically keeps like items together and where they get put in your inventory often tells you what it is used for or how valuable it is.
When you find a new crafting component look it up to see what it's for

You'll start to recognise which crafting items you use often for early gear and then scrolls as you play. Also note you can drop markers custom markers by clicking on the on the map making leaving stuff and being able to go back to it easier.
A quality of life tip to do with books and notes is to read everything first and only pick the item up if reading it updates or starts a quest.
