Question regarding skill slots - Memory attribute

Hey,

I just started the game but I read somewhere that character sget free Memory slots every 2 levels or something like that to slot the skills?

So that fighters / rogues etc can focus on skilling up other attributes since they get free slots?

generally, you want to put a few points in memory as any class just so you can allocate new skills as you learn them, even fighters/rogues. That way once you have enough slots to memorise all the skills you can at the moment, you can level other stats

Or it only works if I put points into the attribute when I level up

You will not get points on those levels, your number of skills you can memorize just goes up. Your actual stat in memory is not changed when this happens.

So you start with 3 slots, and by the end of the game will get 10 for free. Since you can respec your stats at any time after act 1, putting a small amount of points into memory and removing them later on is fine. But most characters will still end up wanting at least a few extra memory slots, more so on mages than weapon focused characters.

Typically, I run a memory of 15 or less on non mages and 18 or so on mages by the end of act one. This number rarely changes much beyond that however, sort of just get it out of the way early.
