Combat is waaaaaaay too slow
Any mods for fixing this? I played the first game, didnt finish it, but I remember combat had the perfect speed, now on this game, I'm in act 4 and I have to battle some mindless dwarves and w/e but it takes like half an hour on each meaningless encounter, and it's not the rig, I have 32 G of Ram so for my pc this game is nothing even on ultra, but it is so slow there's no way to speed up the animations? also why is everyone so tanky it takes ages to kill anyone.

I'm not clear on if you're referring to laggy cinematics, or just generally commenting on the pace of combat.

I suppose the latter is a matter of opinion. Given that this game has no respawning trash mobs, I find the pace of each battle to be fine, since they all feel quite consequential. The game also gets faster as you get more comfortable with the various mechanics. I wouldn't consider enemies to be especially tanky on average, with a few specific exceptions.
Ok I don't really see the slow paceness of the game often complained on the web and I love the story and had lots of fun on fort joy so I guess I'll just push onward.

It definitely has a more deliberate pace to it than, say, Baldur's Gate and other real-time-with-pause RPGs, but that's offset (in my opinion) by the significance and care that goes into each encounter. I think you'll get used to it.

Also, if you’re finding enemies too tanky it might instead be that your characters are too wimpy. You really shouldn’t have this problem in the last act where you’re level 17+. You might just have all your stats in the wrong places. Warfare for instance, should be capped on anyone that deals physical damage. Don’t get caught investing the weapon skills instead, they’re traps, offering significantly less damage per point than Warfare (despite the popup that might make you think otherwise).

I think I'm at the same spot as you are: Chapter 4 - Mastering the Source and my party just hit level 11. Fights surely take their time, especially the ones in the cemetery. But I kinda like it cuz I just spent 10 hours bartering, stealing, crafting and switching items between chars in Driftwood.

Only way I can think of to speed things up in battles, is the Gift Bag mod '8 Action Points', which raises your partys max AP to 8, but that can make battles trivial. I personally don't use it and try to enjoy the games pace, though gotta admit, sometimes I feel like the devs tried their best to hinder the experience.

The game isn't very fast, but it's part of the journey. Enjoy it while it lasts, when you are done with the game you will most likely only be sad because its over.

I would call this a fair complaint but you said that the first game had the perfect speed which makes it confusing. In my experience the first game is way slower than this one.

play lone wolf
Play both as undead
you can then fake death and reset the encounters
so pull one out burn it down reset ...
wait possibly on teleport recharge pull another ..kill

there are mods but idk which would be the most suiting to you, just mess with the tabs (like Story Mode + defintiive should always be on and then choose what you looking for and do most popular all time).

gl hope you have fun, can take a while in vanilla to get enough.

Every fight takes 30 minutes or longer. Even the trash fights. Who is thinking this is ok?

The physical /magical barriers mechanic made this game slower than the first one

Your party is underperforming. By act 4 you should be using source spells and ending combat within 2 or 3 turns as a result.

prolly your party is bad. apotheosis mage or devourer warrior can theoretically solo everything with ease. at this point, you must already have all the best source spells and use them every combat for exceptionally fast clear.

Div 1 had Bodybuilding and Willpower to counter physical or magical attacks which both regenned automatically after X amount of turns putting the onus on the attacker to keep resistances down. Div2 has Physical and Magical Armour doing the same task but they don't regen, putting the onus on the defender to keep attack resistances up. We can speculate why this was changed, but having played and completed both games multiple times, I prefer Div 2 combat over Div 1 due to the reduction of time spent dedicated just to removing attack resistances.

We're back to this thread? Why?

Hello, necromancer. The distinction is that, in theory, there are few to no actual "trash fights", unlike games with actual respawning enemies. Each encounter is designed to have some degree of setpiece significance, story significance, thematic significance, etc. You never just stumble into a roving band of goblins.
