Standard or Divine Edition? How's the gameplay?
Hi, folks. I never played any Divinity games before so that makes me new to this series, I'm interested in buying this game but which version should I pick? The standard edition or the Divine edition, I don't mind spending more money but is it worth it? If I don't buy the goodies through Divine edition can I buy it later?

Also for the gameplay, is it good? I RARELY play any games with turn based mechanic because I don't really like turn based game, the only games I remember played with turn based mechanic is Ni No Kuni, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal and the reason I played those games is because it has a good amount of interactions with the characters. So how much interactions with characters this game has? Is it interesting? Can have romance or making enemies with the npc? etc.

I like the theme so much but the gameplay mechanic put me on hesitation. Thanks in advance!

For gameplay sake, the only version is the definitive or “standard” version. It includes all gameplay content. The divine version just has extra soundtrack and other benefits.

As for the turn based thing, it plays like a tabletop RPG, so it isn’t a back and forth thing where everyone just lines up and picks attacks and whatnot. You move around, interact with terrain and all that. It can be liked even by those who dislike other turn based games.

Well, at least the turn based has more freedom than ni no kuni or persona, but how about the interaction with the npc?

Depends on who you take really. All the companions have the ability to be romanced and have their own stories that can change depending on how you interact with them, you can even piss them off so they abandon you. However, some of them don’t have much going on and their overall personal quests don’t include much. But that all depends on who you take. Of the six, Red Prince, Lohse and Sebille are the three I’d say offer the most interesting interactions and add the most content to do. Ifan and Fane both just add in some lore, Ifan from the more recent history and Fane from the more ancient. Beast... you learn a bit about a side plot, but everything he brings to the table is stuff you’d do without him. He does have quite a few interactions with random characters and isn’t a bad character himself, he just doesn’t add anything more than some flavor text. Fane and Ifan aren’t too much different, everything they do or add being stuff you’ll already do. Fane gets a pass from most people given how involved with the story he is, but everything he brings is still obtainable without him. Though potentially easily missed.

a lot of what Chaos said.

But ya this not a ♥♥♥ game nor proper long dead Bioware, or even like Skyrim so don't expect that much sadly.

Chaos actually did a surprising good job with pointing out the companions.
Aka if want the most then red prince and the 2 gals as companions can get you fair bit and play as either 1 of them or 1 the others as origin characters get a little bit more story + special talks then custom
(Prince + Sebile being very popular though custom lizard would be ok in this to for most part).

Sebille and Prince would say get the most dramatic big quest/life stuff so if more interested in romancing males would switch Lohse with 1 the others but keep Sebile especially ->
if you don't plan on playing elf since they get to eat flesh for little extra lore/funny bits.

AS far as edition again as chaos said it just extras.
Divine: Digital Art Books, Map, Soundtrack, and Art Pack! (So unless you were hardcore fan and wanted to give more $ no reason to it).
Also Sir lora not worth it he was more of a free nice bonus for those that had classic before defintive and just sold for those that missed out on that.
(Yes can buy later look down a bit will list the "dlcs")
Always make sure to look at small text of what editions include and look below them for dlc section.

There are also a fair bit of mods/cheats that can make game more interesting or get you through sections you may find boring etc... so you can focus on enjoyment + story.
(They are limitedish don't expect much but there is a fair bit just click workshop and story mode tab and you can get a general idea).

glhf rather you get it or not :steamhappy:
