Fort Joy: Underground

I freed the elf Amyro, and he marked an orange flag on my map, and when I hover over it, it says Underground. But when I go there, I see no entrance to the Underground. What am I doing wrong?

There should be a passage that you can uncover with a shovel near that flag. You may need some points in Wits to see it, I forget. It's just one of several ways to reach the underground, so don't sweat it if you can't make it work. There are many paths to victory in escaping For Joy.

Thanks, YojoOo. I play on PC. Is there a button to "reveal" hidden/hard to see things? ALT gives a caption on top of items you can pick up. I see nothing on the game screen when I am directly above the flag on the map. It irritates me.

You just don't have enough wits on any nearby characters. Look for food or buffs that increase wits like Peace of Mind from the Pyro skill or pumpkins you can make into pumpkin soup. Handy to have on hand for finding hidden things, though you're better off picking a character to pick up 4-5 points of wits.

Thank you Chaoslink, I'll try increasing my wits or take a companion with higher wits than me near the site. Excellent suggestion! I'm only four hours in, and the UI and all the mechanics are very new to me

Without wits, you can also reveal the path by using the other side. There are probably 5 different ways to effectively get into the same place from different approaches. It all ends the same way though. Just make sure you're not leaving too much behind. You'll want to be mostly through level 3 at least when heading down there. Things down there should be level 4 and might prove a little rough.
