Kniles the flenser - Can anyone explain me what just happened?

Was trying to beat this guy, when in one of my tries, the Meat Golems and the Silent Monks started fighting among themselves, which was the reason i managed to win.

Did the game took pity on me or someting?

I think it's like "three teams" all trying to kill each other, Kniles doesn't control Meat Golems, they are sort of trying to kill everyone around.

Not sure if intended here but a motive of 3 teams FFA fight is repeated a few times, for example in one of the fights by the end of act 1 (don't want to spoil the details).

I've never had that happen in 4 different games, so I can't explain it.

I've had this happen before, but I can't seem to reproduce it consistently. To this end, I think it is a bug which is triggered when you attack either a silent monk or Kniles before talking to them and trigger the fight (I think).

I say its a bug because the three-team FFA later happens consistently while this appears to happen at random.
