Escaping Fort Joy from the dungeon on the boat?
So I want to rescue the guy from the Houndmaster then take the boat out. But the boat is always gone by the time I get there. Do I just have to rush and skip everything else in the dungeon to get this?

The guy (Delorus) or the kid?

The boat and the kid are gone from that place if you escape through somewhere else.

Delorus on the other hand stays there knocked down until you come and save him.

Ok so I entered from where Withermore tells me to. Go to the Dungeon and save Delorus and he tells me of the others and the code word. I then go up the stairs to where the boat should be. However it is not their. I have not yet escaped from somewhere else. or been to the area before this... Is there a timer from when you first start the chapter? Did I just take to long exploring fort Joy??

That is really strange to me. There is no timer; there should be a boy and two guards near a boat, unless you've reached the outside area/swamps.

I've played act 1 more than 10 times and that is how it has worked for me. That's all I know about the boat.

I believe the trigger is simply leaving the room the boat is in. By entering the dungeon area then going to Withermoore's room, you're leaving that scene and it plays out without you. Besides a little lost dialogue with Han, its no big deal really. There's plenty of ways out and your next step after escaping via the boat should really be to just waypoint back in. Though you could go to the Amadia camp and to the other side of the bridge for the waypoints and vendors and all that, you'd still want to go clear the fort.

This is a short timed event though. I believe Han will wait there if you deal with the magisters first though. You can ask him to wait up and I believe he should until you escape successfully otherwise. Just go deal with that as soon as you enter that area, before doing Withermoore's quest.

I've left and went back to that room more than one time *iirc*. Han and the magisters remained there. They just kept repeating themselves until I intervened.

Yeah for me they are just not there. As soon as I go to that area I run over there and nothing....

this is what happened to me to in my second run of Fort Joy. i think it's because I didn't go where the boat would be directly after talking to Delorus? not sure though
