Captain's and Tyran's outfits
Hello everyone,

I meet two problems with the Tyran's and Captain's outfits in act 1.

For the tyrant, I recovered everything except the tyrant's stride which is on the statue in the hidden basement where we recover 'Fanor's spiritual jar'. I have well enough wits (more than 15) but I still don't have the possibility of scratching the statue in order to recover the stride.

Then for the captain set, I have the coat and the hat but I can't find the boots. I know they are supposed to be in a chest next to the camp where act 1 ends but they are not in there... I already found this chest earlier in the game and had already recovered everything... I don't understand... The only reason I see is that I would have sold the boots during the game without knowing that it belonged to a set afterwards but I'm not even sure about that!

I really hope you can help me because I can't begin the act 2 without finishing this!

Thanks in advance :)

Tyrant's Stride is inside of a statue in the area where you find Withermoore's soul jar. Googling "Fanor" takes me to a site that I think is in French, so I assume we're dealing with a translation issue, but I'm thrown by the idea that "Withermoore" in English becomes Fanor in French. So, to be crystal clear: This the hidden basement in the Fort Joy dungeon where you see a bunch of decoy soul jars and the one true soul jar, belonging to the spectral knight that you can speak to after playing hide-and-seek with the kid in the elf cave, right? And there are two statues there, you'll want to scratch at the statue up the ladder on the left as you enter the soul jar room. 15 wits should do it, consider using Encourage or Peace of Mind to enhance it further just to be sure.

Can't help you with the boots, sorry.

Hey YojoOo,

Indeed I'm french and I didn't know that they were changing the NPC names according to your langage. So 'Withermoore' is 'Fanor' in French.

Oh ok! I was on the wrong statue, thank you I finally was able to get the tyrant's stride!

I think it's gonna be harder for the boots haha!

Is the Captain Armour set essential in this game? Or I can move on and start act 2?

I think no armor piece is essential in this game. Some weapons are, you really need Purging wand for overcomming Shriekers, but all armor is completely optional. Well you need some armor for protection of course, but it can be any piece, no armor set is actually required to finish the game.

Neither armor is especially essential, as they're low-level armor sets. You'll grow out of them pretty quickly.

The other Relics of Rivellon quests stretch throughout much of the game, and result in much higher-level finished sets. Still not essential, but worth more effort than the Tyrant and Captain sets.

Alright, thank you!

There’s two chests at that camp. One is near the stairs down, another is a little further up the cliffs. Sounds like you just found one and assumed it was the other. Check again, but further from the camp.

The captain set is the only one of the two really worth using. The tyrant set is lower level, has to be replaced all at once and really isn’t that good to begin with. I typically sell the pieces immediately.

If we didn't have the captain's soul jar before blessing his chest / defeating his minions, is it still possible to get all his set gear? Only have the boots so far...

I would say just move on to act 2 but if you REALLY want them, the chest is up a hill to the right when you make it into the abandoned camp, it's at the top of the hill past all the traps and such where the magister is spying on the camp, also have to have atleast 13 wit to spot the spot where it is buried. I honestly got it then sold it right after as everything I had at that point was better than that set. Tyrants armor has some nice boosts to it, but again there's better armor you can get almost immediately after leaving the island.

I already opened that chest before and I probably sold the boots because I couldn't find them anywhere. So I moved on to act 2!

Btw if we sold an item to a merchant can we found it back on his inventory later?

Thank you guys!

It’s worth mentioning that even old gear you sell to a vendor will stay. You might find it helpful to sell old armor and weapons to vendors that don’t sell those types of items so they don’t clog their inventory and you don’t need to sort through your old stuff to find the new.
