Bishop Alexander's story: which path to choose?
Spoilers obviously, pertaining to the late-game section.

I have heard that if you spare him he will actually join your party as a companion which is kind of ridiculous. I always thought his whole "I was manipulated" excuse was BS, but apparently people are saying its true.

Which path is better story/content wise? Killing him or sparing him? Also Gareth's story seems to be linked strongly to Alexander. My first playthrough I chose to kill Alexander and at the end Gareth somehow became a Silent Monk kind of creature. Does Gareth get a different ending if you convince him not to seek revenge? Thanks.

Re: Alexander joining your party: He does not. You heard wrong. He does become neutral to you and offer some assistance, but he does not fight alongside you.

Gareth does get a different ending if you send him down the road of forgiveness - but to get him onto that road, you MUST be consistent, and urge him on the path of forgiveness and letting go of his anger at every opportunity.

Eh, not exactly true Stabbey. In the final arena of act 3, you can indeed gain Alexander as an ally to fight. Due to his... meeting with Dallis afterwards, he doesn't stay with you. But he does become a fighting ally like Saheila does in the Lumber Mill.

Gareth definitely gets a different ending depending on how you have him interact with Alexander.
