Withermoore and Artifacts of the Tyrant
Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help. I'm trying to get the Tyrants Stride leggings, to complete the set. The quest appears to require me to speak to Withermoore but his skeleton isn't pinned to the wall by the spear.

Earlier in the game, we did the soul jar room but we may have elected to smash Withermoores soul jar.

So how can I get the Tyrants Stride leggings now?

I think the leggings themselves aren't actually tied to whether you accept the quest or not. (Speaking to the skeleton)
You just need to have high Wits ~14 I think, and climb the ladder, and click on the statue. (In the same place where you smashed the jar).

Interesting. It looks like the online guides aren't particularly clear on the Tyrants line. I'll take another look in the soul jar room, cheers!

I believe it is 15 wits. When you interact with the statue with 15 or higher, there is an extra dialog option.

OP, remember you can use encourage or peace of mind to temporarily increase wits. You probably have a couple of points on a character or some gear with it to also help get to 15.

Eh...I have never uses that set beyond the helm for purging shrieikers.

The wits check is difficulty related. It’ll be higher on higher difficulties if I’m not mistaken. Peace of mind and a pumpkin soup will give most of the needed wits. Withermoore himself isn’t related beyond the leggings being in the same room.

That said, there’s no reason to collect the whole set beyond completionist reasons. The set itself isn’t worth using.

I think the set is pretty decent for a two-handed warrior for a couple levels. Just don't expect it to be some gamechanger, you'll use it for a bit and then replace it like any other armor, with the added headache that you can't replace it piecemeal.

Right, and having to replace it all at once is a headache and a half if there isn’t anything good available. Not to mention that you’ll likely be higher level than the set by the time you put it together, lowering the longevity of what already isn’t likely to last that long. I’ve never felt like it was better than whatever you could piece together yourself with random items.

The reason for that is likely because the set isn't all that important, or all that good. There is no exp connected to it, no achievement, and no real in game value beyond the helmet giving a temporary purge ability. You're more than welcome to collect them all, but the only reason to do so is because you personally want to, which is why it's not likely to see much on the set in guides.

There are a couple of good armour sets but most of them take so long to get they are underl level by the time you get the complete set and even if you upgrade them they tend to be vastly inferior to divine pieces you can find in Act 3 and 4.

The Vulture gloves, Captain's Set, and the Spore armor are pretty good, not sure about the Devourer, can't remember its final stats but I don't think it is competitive with random divine equipment.

For a warrior type the devourer armor is easily the best. It has so much + Warfare you’d never be able to get otherwise.

The devourer armor set bonus and number of sockets make it so ridiculously powerful that it's probably the best armor period, regardless of build dependence on Warfare.

Yeah, I could see that. Though my last warrior build had something like 25 Warfare by level 20 with that set. That’s an insane amount of extra damage for any physical build. 10 Warfare with 40 main attribute is like having 70 main attribute. 25 warfare would make that 40 more like 115 of your main attribute. And that’s not including weapon skills like two handed or and strength or whatever from gear or effects as well. No armor is better for physical builds than the Devourer set.

Oh I'm with you there, it's insanely strong.

I wore that Tyrant Armour far too long. In the end, I could get more armour from a single shield, than from the whole set.

The Devourer sounds very nice. Do you need high strength? The 2 pieces I have require only 11 & 12. I could put in my Rogue.

You will need 14 strength by the end of the game in order to equip it, BUT it grants you +3 strength on it's own. With the 15% crit and massive warfare, I'd say it's worth the 1 point. Especially since it also has an abundance of rune slots available for your main stat to go up.
