Why do i always start with only 4 AP?
I'm 90 hours in and still wondering this! I thought it would go to six once i got my source etc but am still starting with only 4 AP.

4 ap is the default in a non-lone wolf build that doesn't have glass cannon. There are ways to buff that, such as haste, or one of the teas from act 4. Source is a different thing completely.

Don't spend it all every turn. Boom, 6.

hmm ok, i never used haste cause i thought it was just a spell that enables you to move further and nothing to do with AP count. I'm kinda struggling at the Driftwood map atm on tactician mode, so ofc i had to ask about AP as i was thinking to myself i wish i had more haha!

Honestly, the amount of times i've had to reload saves. I mostly win from doing sneaky stuff like pulling a coupkle of enemies out of the fight area or dragging magisters in the fight for extra help.

I guess you have to pull all the tricks out in tactician mode. Some of my chars still have gear that is more than 3-4 levels lower because i hoard and hoard and still can't get enough cash to buy stuff, although i only spend cash on spell books. I have a char with lucky charm lvl 8 on my lvl 10 ranger so this helps when looting.

Tactician does make quite a few fights a bit harder and gives some of them some extra mechanics/buffs. it really helps to know the fights already in this mode, or otherwise be pretty familiar with how the various systems interact. It's also a lot more important to upgrade your gear as often as you can, once per level if possible. Thievery can be pretty helpful with this, the higher you get it hte more gold you can steal from each NPC, which can be nice padding (and the ability to respec this stuff on the lady vengeance makes it especially easy). Having 8 lucky charm already is also going to be insanely helpful, just be sure to loot EVERY container you see.

So ending turn allows for storing AP?

Yup, whatever AP you have left when you end a turn will roll over to the next turn, assuming it doesn't exceed the AP cap (which is indicated by the number of bubbles/circles for AP, usually 6 in a standard non-Lone Wolf run)

Read all the skill books you are able to use. This is the main part of why haste is useful

Adrenaline Rush, Flesh Sacrifice & Haste are your best friends. Combine that with abusing enemy turn order, environment & positioning. Create "elemental" surfaces before you fight. You can also easily buff your characters before you engage the fight (Rested, Clear Mind, Potions, ...).

If you have a conversation box with your lead character before the fight initiates, fully buff him/her, for maximum up-time on those buffs.

Potions, scrolls and grenades make your life easier. Not to mention the special arrows for your ranger, those are invaluable (knockdown arrows & charm arrows are so good). I use the backpacks to store these items for easy access on the hotbar. You can use these from every characters inventory, despite it being their turn or not.

Thievery is important for upgrading gear, lucky charm maybe be nice, but purely for upgrading items, then thievery is the way to go.

If i could pause the game and do all of what you say it would make sense, but if i buff all my chars, by the time i get to the last guy, my first guys buffs are running out lol.

I've never stole anything tbh, i kinda thought the game had a kharma system and didn't want people to hate me. I realise it only applies if you get caught but guards always ask to check me as if they're phychic!

One thing to note is that if a character is in conversation, their buff timer is frozen, so you can buff one character that's stuck in dialogue and the buffs won't drop off.

I'm curious to know what yo guys do with stolen gear though? Guards will always search you no matter what and i have no pursuation with my main so even if i have high finesse, it doesn't help. I read that you can swap the gear out during a conversation and the guards wont know but not tried yet.

I’ve never seen a guard or anyone besides the person you stole from ask to search, unless you only stole from the environment rather than pickpocket. If you just run away so they don’t stop you, they’ll revert back to their non-searchy selves shortly after and you’ll never need to think about it again. The easiest solution is to steal, then just waypoint out.

ok thanks

Personally I don't steal gear. I just steal the raw gold & skill books & ingredients, resell the skill books you don't need & adding the stolen gold to your own gold, will remove the stolen tag. Same goes for splitting stacks of stolen items, it will remove the stolen tag.

Just buy the gear with the stolen gold. (always gift junk items to them until you reach 100 attitude with them).

Depending on your ability to barter, this can actually be less worthwhile for you. A stolen armor costs your thievery cap only the base cost of the armor itself. If you can’t buy the item for less than the base cost with massive discounts, then you’ve ended up with less total gold by stealing the gold itself than you would have if you stole what you u wanted directly. Typically speaking, you should steal everything you want first and cap off your limit with gold.
