Elves Story (spoilers)
I never quite got, why were so many people trying to genocide the elves?
I'm currently replaying the game. I have beaten the game before, but I didn't quite follow all the business with the elven scions getting killed by lone wolves.

Like... Why? It doesn't really seem to have anything to do with the whole void and godwoken stuff at all.

The lone wolves were getting paid to kill them I think, but the genocide probably has to do with the fact that the Mother Tree was wanting to destroy everything and everyone else. As you find out when you visit the tree , even Saheila tells you to kill it and that was the whole reason Sebille ran away from being the Scion in the first place.

Thanks for answering. Is there any explanation why the mother tree was going crazy? Did it get corrupted by the void?

Probably not, but most of its evil probably is due to blind sense of retribution towards others for all the wrongs of the world.
It also probably lacks empathy towards other species because it just sees them as enemies that have no right to live who only exist to exploit the Elves.

TLDR its biased and sees others as monsters, this isnt entirely unfounded given the circumstances of the world and how the Divine Order almost managed to genocide Elves with reckless "collateral damage" excuse in their war. So its fueled by blind hatred.

So basically:
- Mother tree goes full evil (possibly because of the elf genocide)
- People try to stop it by killing the elven scions

Well, first of all about why elven genocide happened because it is a part of Lucian's Deathfog bomb plot. With the elves in decline and nomad, it weakened their god's power, which pretty much allowed Voidwokens to invade in the first place.

Second was pretty much political. The Mother Tree planned to restore the elves back to its glory, but the method would cause conflict with other races.

Third, the Mother Tree's plan revolved around Sebille, the Prime Scion who ran away. Other Scions will be looking for her if they wanted the plan to come true, which the other races cannot let it happen. So Scions must be stopped to prevent them from getting to Sebille.

That makes sense, yeah. I feel like this wasn't very well communicated in-game, but maybe that's just me.
Thanks for answering.

There are few of these things in the game that arent sometimes well explained and you only get to understand it after playing the game 2-3 times, or they arent until you really read in between lines or by just using real life logic.
