Rykers house upstairs "I've spotted something"

So I got this message and nothing glowed, it was in the hallway in Rykers house, upstairs.
I figured it might be the diamond but loaded to an earlier quicksave to see if I was missing a lever glowing or something and with both doors closed my high wits character still says it as I walk to the railing at the top of the stairs.
We can't see through walls, can we? Is there something behind the paintings?

There is a Diamond beneath the bathtub in the room where the dog and the cat argues on, I think the Wits check is for that Diamond.
