The boy with the boat in the Fort Joy dungeon

I told the password to the 2 guards near a small dock in the dungeon and they said to go with the kid, but i decided to look around more and now when i went back the boy and the boat are gone. Is this normal or did i miss something?

Yep this is normal, the kid tells you he won't wait around too long.

If you escape the fort into the swamps it'll cause a trigger that progresses things. The kid with the boat is one of them.

Yes, he just takes you to a beach outside that you can reach just by walking there. You're missing nothing.

He is basically one of the ways to escape the prison. But there are plenty of others.
