Is it possible to advance without acquiring extra source slots?

I ve been playing in the driftwood area for a while now and my current story objective is to acquire more source slots, however something seems off... it might be because my goddess is Zorl-Stissa and she is being quite shady, it might be because every single person who offered to upgrade my source slots seems to be evil or asks me to do shady stuff... at this point I have already refused a couple of opportunities to get an extra source slot i believe. So my question is, is it possible to go on with the story by only using the single source slot given to me at the beginning ?

You don't have to aquire any other source slots if you don't want to, but it would start a chain off events that will put you at a serious disadvantage later into the game Malady dies, you lose access to the Lady Vengance in the last act .
Not all of the deals are straight up evil, though. Explore a little more, and you will come across some morally acceptable deals.

There is actually an achievement for only having one slot. It's harder, but it's doable. And The biggest disadvantage is that you can't use 2 or 3 source point powers.

You guys are awesome. I was unsure whether to keep declining source slots since it feels like battles are getting quite tough, however knowing that there is a chain of events (I haven't read the spoiler text) linked to this choice makes me want to definitely go for it

Keep in mind you are not really supposed to do it this way. If you keep refusing offers from 'shady' ppl and also loose Gareth, you might find yourself with a severe disatvantage at some point (and I think you may also miss some content this way). If thats your 1st playthrogh, maybe do it the 'normal' way and observe what changes in a 2nd one-source-slot-playthrough.

The least morally ambiguous source masters tend to be in the highest level areas, or at least require you to do things in those areas before they'll train you.

Jahan can give you a point at the cost of sucking the source out of some ultra evil demons.
Sehelia gives you a point if you save her (and didn't kill her in Chapter 1), no real draw back
The succubus gives you one in exchange for kissing her (that's it really)

The other sources generally involve doing something awful (annihilating the souls of the dead in the graveyard, severing your connection to nature for all time, letting a demon drain a prisoner and so forth).
