What's so great about Lone Wolf?
I seem to keep running into mentions that Lone Wolf is the best for Tactician Honour mode or something or another. You can just use 1 character to beat the entire game because you get 10 Summoning and later you can destroy everything in 1 turn, etc.

So what exactly is the deal with this. Is it because it's just broken? Or perhaps is easier to control 1 "powerful" character (or 2).

Or perhaps it's easier to do "combos" with them because your turn is longer?

If you respec to Lone Wolf, do your other 2 characters die? Or they wait for you like all those Origin characters in Fort Joy but on the Lady Vengeance? Then you can respec again and use all 3 at a time?

Is it good for Honour mode because it's so powerful you can leave one character in town? Or is the duo just that invincible?

1) the reaching summoning lvl 10 thing is more for easy and simple early game until you reach something like lvl 13 where every other magic school get more power trough multiple scaling than summoning

2) At the original divinity 2 version, it was broken because you could reach 20 to any combat ability (natural 20 warfare without any gear for exemple) and reach 80 in any stat like getting 80 intelligence or 80 DEX/STR, etc.

This is nerfed in definitiv edition so it have the same limit than non lone wolf character BUT lone wolf groups have still those advantages : less worries about inventory management since you have only one or two character to equip instead of four characters, and those lone wolf can be more easier hybrid than others (lone wolf can reach 40 to three stats and 10 to 2-3 combat ability where non lone wolf character can do half of it)

3) Lone wolf works only if you have 2 characters or less in the party, recruiting new members or respec one member of a 4 man party will only deactivate the talent (so its feel more like you wasted a talent point for something which add nothing)

4) Since your character can more easily invest into multiple stats (like having 40 STR/INT or 40 DEX/STR etc, your character can adapt to any kind of situation, the thing is, with less character to use, you are also more weak to any kind of CC and damage since your opponents have only one or two guys to beat than a full 4 guys party, lone wolf are indeed stronger but have to do same/more damage than 2-4 guys and have take double damage

As mentioned above, I think a lot of that thought was from before DE, where Lone Wolfs were allowed to push their stats above the normal cap for some nonsense scaling.

Mostly due to allocating double the points in attributes and abilities, its not as good as it was in classic version, but it still gets outclassed later by a 4 man.
A lot more boring than 4 man party. The Cheese in this game is insane so it doesn't matter.

It's actually one thing which ultimately results in lone wolves "outclassing" 4 man parties, and its critical strikes. It takes ages for a non-lone wolf character to reach the WIT cap alongside their preference of STR/DEX/INT, while on lone wolf, you get it mid game. The math behind it is a little confusing, however critical strikes in this game are weird, but if I recall correctly it works something like this: at 200% critical damage, if you crit, you deal damage approximately equivalent to casting that spell/doing that attack 2.5 times (again, its weird, its because multiple crit modifiers add on top of each other rather than multiply). Lone wolf makes it really easy to reach ~90% crit chance, which means with the right gear all you're doing late game is crit, crit, crit.

If you know how to "win" Fort Joy, Hollow Marshes and the first half of the second act (until around lvl 13) on lone wolves, past that, the game is a walk in the park.

I personally found lone wolf flows a bit better. As I dont get that much to play, only using 2 characters that are more powerful can speed things up a bit in the bigger fights.
I would say if you want a deeper, more tactical game then go for the team of 4.

Team of 4 is definitely much more powerful. Because you essentially get more turns. 2x more gear slots. More combos. More memory slots and action bar slots. Also Lone Wolf takes up a talent. So you are basically playing Lone Wolf with 12 talents max vs 28 talents with a 4 man party.

why lone wolf is more powerful than a team of 4?
this has already been said but the possibility of quickly mounting the wit is very important to explain it
Of course we do more critical damage so we can kill an enemy easily on a turn and for bosses cc is easier. from my point of view it is especially to be able to start the fight first without much lowering the damage level which is really advantageous.
the gap is reduced at the end of the game but remains when significant especially when you master the game well.
lone wolf is boring now for me.
