2) At the original divinity 2 version, it was broken because you could reach 20 to any combat ability (natural 20 warfare without any gear for exemple) and reach 80 in any stat like getting 80 intelligence or 80 DEX/STR, etc.
This is nerfed in definitiv edition so it have the same limit than non lone wolf character BUT lone wolf groups have still those advantages : less worries about inventory management since you have only one or two character to equip instead of four characters, and those lone wolf can be more easier hybrid than others (lone wolf can reach 40 to three stats and 10 to 2-3 combat ability where non lone wolf character can do half of it)
3) Lone wolf works only if you have 2 characters or less in the party, recruiting new members or respec one member of a 4 man party will only deactivate the talent (so its feel more like you wasted a talent point for something which add nothing)
4) Since your character can more easily invest into multiple stats (like having 40 STR/INT or 40 DEX/STR etc, your character can adapt to any kind of situation, the thing is, with less character to use, you are also more weak to any kind of CC and damage since your opponents have only one or two guys to beat than a full 4 guys party, lone wolf are indeed stronger but have to do same/more damage than 2-4 guys and have take double damage
If you know how to "win" Fort Joy, Hollow Marshes and the first half of the second act (until around lvl 13) on lone wolves, past that, the game is a walk in the park.
I would say if you want a deeper, more tactical game then go for the team of 4.
this has already been said but the possibility of quickly mounting the wit is very important to explain it
Of course we do more critical damage so we can kill an enemy easily on a turn and for bosses cc is easier. from my point of view it is especially to be able to start the fight first without much lowering the damage level which is really advantageous.
the gap is reduced at the end of the game but remains when significant especially when you master the game well.
lone wolf is boring now for me.
