Final Fight
The hell do I do? Is there anything I CAN do? As soon as the transition the 2nd phase starts and the Kraken comes out, I never get a chance to act, everyone's turn is pushed to the start and basically I get barraged to no end and no chance of recovery.

Use invisibility, hide your team, delay turns to take action alone and don't forget you should have infinite source.

This can indeed be a tough fight so don't feel bad struggling with it. Since you know what triggers the second phase, I'd recommend trying to pre-buff before initializing that. Stuff like peace of mind, living on the edge, invisibility. It can still be tough to do this since you have a lot to contend with during the first phase, but it's helpful. The difficulty of this fight also depends on whether Lucian and co. are on your side or not. If they are not, I usually do what I can to stick to the edges of the battle so everyone else focuses on each other more than me. Focus Braccus first, and the kraken and all the summoned people will go away. It's fairly simple from there.

Alternatively, the person you bring down to trigger stage two, if you can straight up kill him instead of bring him down to the low health that triggers it (I can usually pull it off with Onslaught), you can skip that phase entirely.

Your team setup can matter too. A good team makes Tactician feel like Explorer while a poor team can make Explorer too hard. Even if your team handles most fights throughout the game just fine, most fights aren’t hard enough to push your team to its limits. If any fight is a struggle, your team is finding a limitation to in some regard that holds it back.

Phase 2 can be skipped if you kill Vredeman without his health reaching the treshold to trigger the second phase.(in other words: remove his armor then one-shot him) Depending on your choices this may end the fight right away.

I beat 4 runs on tactician and had no idea there was a second phase.

You're welcome. If I were you I'd drop a blessed smoke on your entire team and let Lucian do all the heavy lifting, depending on how well built your comp is.

resist potions, preferably resist all 75% and a dodge potion as well. be sure to stock up before the battle.
