maybe that will work for you. I did that with the hives located outside of driftwood, with the bears, and had no issues. There's the hive near the coop as Chaoslink stated that works for that too.
I haven't tried to do so with a hive on a tree, but I have no reason to believe Chaoslink is wrong--in fact, I am sort of irritated that they can't be kicked or jostled from a distance to get the bees to come out and act angry on someone else..
and no. lol charm arrows literally makes this game easy game.
you can literally just charm everysingle npc and with finally an infinite honey source i've made over
299 stacks of charm arrows enough to last me the game so far so good
